Calypso Coral Birthday

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I sure did.  Sydney came here on Wednesday so she could help me get ready for Thanksgiving dinner.  And she was a big help.  We also enjoyed some TV/bed time with Nipper.  When Sydney is here, little Nipper sticks close to her.  On Thursday morning, Matt came over with Vinny (his girlfriend's son).  Between Sydney, Matt and Vinny my morning couldn't have been better! There were 16 of us for dinner and it was wonderful.  I truly am blessed with the very best family and friends.

Today's card was made when I took a break from die cutting snowflakes~~lots of snowflakes for my Christmas cards.  I used retired Designer Series Paper with Calypso Coral cardstock, ink and twine and a white card base.  It was quick to create and it is a birthday card without balloons!  Have a great day!

My Favors

Today I am posting the favors I made for Thanksgiving at our house.  I wrapped each Hershey Treasure in Lawn Fawn pattern paper, made a little tray for the candies and slipped them into SU's 2" x 8" cellophane bags.  The sentiment is from the Basket of Wishes stamp set.  After stamping the tags I needed, I used the Labels and Tags framelits to cut them out.  I then sponged the edges and tied them on with twine, adding off white tulle and decorative embellishments.  Once again, I trimmed down the length of the cello bags.  I made these for a Halloween post last month and I thought those were cute.  These, I think, are very pretty.

There will be three children here, so I made them little boxes using Lawn Fawn's Scalloped Treat Box die and Stampin' UP's retired bow punch.  Have a great day!

Owl Punch Turkey

Isn't this Thanksgiving favor cute?  My friend, Kathy Z, made these.  She used Stampin' Up's retired Fry Box die and the Owl Punch.  She layered different sizes of scallop circles on to the front of the fry box.  The turkey's body is the owl body from the punch, minus the ears and adhered using dimensionals.  She added the google eyes, a sentiment, a tiny little beak and heart.  Inside the fry box is a Reese's Peanut Butter cup wrapped in a cellophane bag and tied with pretty ribbon.   If I hadn't already started on my Thanksgiving favors,  I would have copied this one!  Have a great day!

Navy Thinking of You

This was a quick card I made while I was cleaning my scrap island.  I used a Night of Navy card base and a piece of patterned paper that I have had in my stash for quite some time.  The frame and the sentiment cardstock were cut using My Favorite Things Inside & Out Diagonal Stitched Rectangle dies.  The sentiment is from SU's Wetlands stamp set and the flowers are from SU's Love & Affection set.  I used dimensionals to adhere the border frame to add a little dimension to the card. I  never did clean my scrap island~~later today I will get right to it!  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time.

Distress Ink Happy Birthday

I saw Tim Holtz Distress Specialty Stamping paper that had a matte
coating that offers a smooth surface for blending and coloring.  I wanted to see if I could get that smooth look when sponging distress ink that you see on the cards on the internet.  So the paper arrived and I used it.  For some reason, my sponging with any ink never looks as smooth or even as most I see online.  Well, this paper didn't make any difference for me.  I could still see all the circular motions I made and the unevenness of the sponging.  So, I used my balloon punch and MFT die to create today's pretty birthday card from the sponging that was blotchy~~and it looks perfect!  Have a great day!

Christmas Card~~Maybe

Yesterday was a Christmas card day in my scrap room.  Today's card is one that was a possible design for the cards I will be sending out this year.  I used Shimmery White and Marina Mist cardstock and the pretty Frosted sequins that are in SU's Holiday Mini.  Have a great day!

Get Well Soon

I started working on Christmas cards over the weekend.  I am thinking I should really should be working on Thanksgiving favors!  If you don't see daily posts from me, it is because I am working on
those projects instead of creating new cards for my blog.  Today's card is a cheerful get well card.  I used Lawn Fawn's On The Mend stamp set and dies for both the image and the sentiment.  The vase of smiling flowers was colored in with Spectrum Noir markers after it was stamped on Shimmery White cardstock.    I used scraps of DSP and water colored Shimmery White on the card front.  The card was finished with a little white baker's twine bow.  Have a great day!

First off, let me start my post by thanking all of the Veterans of the United States military.  I have always been proud of my Dad, my great uncle and friends who served in the military over the years.   To all who served our country~~thank you.

Today's card is another idea from Pinterest.  I used a Wonky Stitches die from Avery Elle and a SU circle die for the top layer of the card.  The Pool Party and Pistachio Pudding leaves were stamped using stamps from SU's Love and Affection stamp set as are the  the Crisp Cantaloupe flowers.  I stamped off once when I inked the Pistachio Pudding leaves and meant to stamp off for all the little flowers, but I forgot to on one of them--oops!  The sentiment is from the Endless Thanks set.  Whatever colors you use for the leaves and flowers, just make sure they are pale enough for the black sentiment to stand out. I embellished the card with a few sequins, but you could use buttons or enamel dots or whatever is your favorite embellishment.  I did adhere the top layer to a white card base using dimensionals. Have a wonderful weekend!

Snowy Tree

As I looked out my office window yesterday, I saw that most of the colorful leaves on my trees were almost gone.  It made me realize that soon those bare branches will be snow-covered.  The thought reminded me of a card I saw on the internet that I wanted to make.  I used the Sheltering Tree stamp set and both the images and the sentiment are in the set.  The "snow" is white craft ink which does need a little time to dry.  I first stamped the "snow" and once it dried, I stamped the tree using Black Memento ink.  I am hoping the branches on my trees stay bare for a very long time!  I am not ready for snow.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time.

Holiday Hostess Gift

What a night!  I couldn't stay up for the final election results but I have been watching and listening to various TV networks this morning.  So much happiness for some and much disappointment for others.
A friend asked if I would make cards that she can give as hostess gifts during the holidays.  I have been working on this, making a few sets for her the past days.  Having the Misti sure did make a difference when stamping the sentiments on numerous cards.  When the cards were all completed and the envelopes stamped with a coordinating image,  I put the set of cards in a cellophane bag and tied it with a ribbon~~ready to give.  Have a great day!

A Beautiful Tree

I was out with my son and daughter on Saturday and we saw this beautiful tree!  It was so vibrant, I had to take a picture of it for my blog.  It was like we were standing right in front of the sun.  Even though my card isn't as grand as this tree, I used the photo as inspiration.  After die cutting the leaves in a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, I lined the front of the card base (which is also Early Espresso) with orange/yellow pattern paper I had in my collection.  This way, the pattern paper would show thru the leaves when the top layer was added to the card base.  I added a strip of the same pattern paper to the bottom of the card on which I had stamped a sentiment.  (I wish I would have added a little twine above the pattern strip, but too late!)  The finished layer was adhered on the card base using dimensionals.  Adhesive dots and Fall color sequins complete the card with a Very Vanilla liner on the inside of the card base.  Have a great day!

November Cricut Favors

These favors couldn't be easier.  Actually, if I had just tied the ribbon or twine around the box, without the leaves, that would have been easier!  Anyway, I was placing an order at Clearbags a couple of weeks ago and the 1-1/2" square food safe clear boxes caught my eye.  I have the Stampin' Up clear 2" square boxes, but a smaller size might be better for loose candies, such as M&Ms.  A bag of M&Ms will go much further when using the smaller size. The little leaves were die cut using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves dies after randomly sponging a piece of cardstock.  These would be cute with candy corn, too.  Have a great day!

Crisp Cantaloupe Card

Since the retired In Color DSP was on the island, I decided to make another card with my favorite In Color DSP.  I had a scrap of Crisp Cantaloupe that I added to a white card base and then used my scoring tool to make a design of embossed lines.  Just remember that if you want the embossed lines to show on your card front you do need to put the score lines on the backside of the cardstock.  Every 3/8" I would score.  I added a water colored, die cut butterfly on another piece of white cardstock, stamped the sentiment and adhered that to Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.  I then adhered that to the card base using dimensionals.  And those pretty sequins were definitely needed!  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!

So Exciting!

So excited for the CUBS!  I like so many of players on the team and they all deserve the win, but it is so nice to see David Ross retire with this World Series Win.  Great to see so much happiness. Congrats to all the Chicago Cubs and their families!

Lately, I have been posting pretty/cute cards but most of them were shades of orange and brown.  And soon I will be posting Christmas cards, which means a whole lot of red and green over the next couple of months.  So I pulled out the package of my all-time favorite In Color DSP (2013-2015) and chose Coastal Cabana for today's card.  The image is from the hostess set Gift of Love and the sentiment is from Circle of Spring.  I embellished the card with my all-time favorite embellishment, the coordinating In Color sequins.  I look at this card, and it makes me happy!  Of course, I am sure that happy feeling has something to do with the fact that the CUBS WON!!!!  Have a great day!

Another Santa Card

Once again, I used the Detailed Santa thinlets dies for not only the Santa but also for the decorative trim on the bottom of the card front.  If you are looking for an easy card to create, this is it.  I placed the Santa thinlet and the decorative trim piece on the cutting plate at the same time.  I used a post it note to hold the trim in place as I rolled the paper and dies thru the Big Shot.  I then stamped the sentiment.  If I was making a few or more of this card, I would use my Misti to stamp the sentiment.  I also would center the decorative die and the sentiment a little better, too!  Since my sentiment and decorative trim are a little off center, I did add a couple little sequins to the right edge of the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Greetings from Santa set.  Have a great day and GO CUBS!!!!!!!

A Christmas Card

Believe it or not, today's post is a Christmas card!  My friend, Paula, was here on Saturday and brought her newest toys~~SU's Detailed Santa Thinlets Die and the Greetings from Santa stamp set (p. 11 Holiday Mini).  Paula also brought the materials for me to create today's card.  We both agreed that we don't usually send Christmas cards with black cardstock, but this one looks perfect with the red glitter paper against the black cardstock.   The Greetings from Santa stamp set does not have framelits,so I fussy cut the "naughty or nice list".  After fussy-cutting the list and placing it against the black, you could see a few little white spaces where the cutting wasn't perfect.  I took out a black Spectrum Noir marker and ran it across the edges to cover up those spots.  I can still see a few little white spaces, but you have to be looking for them! Have a great day!
