The Green & Blue Shaker Card

When I made the successful cupcake shaker card I mentioned my next shaker card would be blue and green.  Well, I did create the blue and green shaker card and I think it is just adorable.  I colored in the balloon and little elephants with Copic markers and then used the coordinating framelits to cut them out.  The set I used for todays card is Unforgettable from WPlus 9.  Hopefully the person I made this card for has received it and knows I made it especially for her as she, too, is taken in by these little elephants!  You will definitely make a shaker card at our June card classes.  Until then, have a great weekend and find  yourself a little stampin' time or just procraftinate!

Roller Skate Thanks!

Yesterday we received this thank you card from Jenny.  As many of you know, our daughter turned 40 earlier this month and she loves roller skating in a roller derby class.  Well when I saw the birthday thank you card she created I knew it had to be shared.  The roller skate stamp is colored in to match her real skates, but the use of Stampin' Up!'s Gorgeous Grunge stamp set is just perfect~~so roller derby-ish!  It is really fun to receive a card in the mail which was created using SU! stamps and seeing how other's use the stamps they purchase.  Have a great day!

Build A Birthday~~Candles

Once again, I used the Build A Birthday stamp set, new in the annual catalog.  After stamping the rectangles, I cut them out (easy to do since they are all straight lines), adhered them to a white cardstock layer and then stamped the flame that is included in the set.  So after I stamped and cut, I said to myself,  "You know, you could have just stamped the rectangles on the white cardstock, too!!" So save the cutting time and just stamp!  The little stars in the upper left corner were stamped using an image from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar set which carried over from the Occasions Mini.   Many cute cards can be made using the Build A Birthday stamp set.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Build A Birthday~~Cake

Using another new set today, Build A Birthday.  It is a photopolymer set consisting of 8 stamps.  The set includes the birthday sentiment on the card and 7 element stamps with which to make and "decorate" a birthday cake.  Today I am showing the birthday cake I made using the cake stand and three rectangles.  The candle on top is from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set as it fit perfectly on top of the cake  The bow and stars are from the Mini Treat Bag framelit set.  I really wish I had the Brights Sequins Assortment in my hands as those stars would be perfect on this card!! Soon~~I will be putting in the first new cattie order on June 2nd and those will be on the order for sure.  Have a great day!

A Day To Remember. . .

. . .our very best!  As you are out and about today, please take a moment to remember those who fought for our freedom and died for it.  When I read the stories that are online and in newspapers this Memorial Day weekend, I can't help but be thankful to them and their families who sacrificed for me and my family.  And as I am out and about and I see the men and women wearing their caps and shirts signifying they were or are in the military, I will be thanking them.  Have a nice day and be safe.

Fussy Cut Just Because

Today's card is another created using the new You've Got This stamp set.  After stamping the flower, I colored it in using my Copic markers.  Once it was cut out, which took a little time, I wondered what to do with it.  It didn't really match Elegant Eggplant nor Blackberry Bliss as I thought it would.  So I inked up the background stamp from the same set with Soft Sky and stamped off once before stamping on the white cardstock.  I repeated this a few times to cover a majority of the card front and then adhered the flower.  I could have used any of the sentiments from You've Got This, but I really like the "just because" from A Dozen Thoughts.  The card needs a little something else, but for now you see another way to use the flower from this stamp set.  Have a great day!

Black & White

I have many favorite colors and color combinations, but one color combination I like in just about anything is black and white.  So when I heard that there are pretty new patterns in the Designer Series stacks for each color family, I decided it was okay to use up what I have left of the current Neutrals DSP Stack.  Of course, since I was covering Hershey Bars, I should have used Chocolate Chip or Early Espresso, but the black and white won.  The label on the candy bar is from the new  You're So Sweet stamp set which includes cute little sayings for treat bags and cards, too.  I embellished the tag using the new Watermelon Wonder cardstock for the little flowers and Cucumber Crush for the leaves.  And the best thing about the black and white color combo?  Just about any color you put with it works.  On another topic the saying I included struck me as being cute and made me laugh!  We all know how that happens!  So have a great day and procraftinate!

Cherry On Top Birthday Cards

I am in need of birthday cards, so I decided to use paper from the new Cherry On Top DSP stack and a stamp from and old stamp set, Another Great Year.   The cards are quite simple, but colorful and cheerful.  One thing I really like about the Cherry On Top stack is that it combines old colors with new and the colors blend beautifully.  The card with the sequins has a card base of the new Cucumber Crush.  The card with the balloon has a Bermuda Bay card base.  The Cherry On top DSP stack is 6 x 6 and after cutting down the paper for the card fronts, I used part of the remaining sections to decorate the inside of the cards and their envelopes. Cherry On Top is a definite must have from the new annual catalog.  Actually, there are a few must haves.  Have a great day!

Paper Pumpkin

My Paper Pumpkin is the monthly kit offered by Stampin' Up.  I have not been a monthly subscriber until recently and that is because I was seeing so many cute kits.  June's Paper Pumpkin arrived on Saturday so I put together a bag and card that you can create using everything supplied in the kit.  It includes 4 gift bags and 6 birthday cards.  The bags are cute, the cards are quick and easy to put together and the kit even includes yellow tissue for the bag and envelopes, too.  You never know what will be in the kit~~sometimes cards, sometimes home décor item~~you have to like surprises.   Right now SU is offering 50% off the first two months.  After that, the monthly cost goes back to $19.95 plus tax.  If this is something you are interested in, just go to www.mypaperpumpkin.com

Tickled Pink

Taking a break from Sprinkles of Life to post a card I created using a new stamp set and coordinating dies from My Favorite Things.  A dear friend of mine saw a card on a Jennifer McGuire video and had the sets  sent to me.  What is really ironic is I saw the same video and ordered the Tickled Pink stamp set and dies for my daughter as a birthday gift.  When the envelope from MFT arrived I was thinking, "Wow!  That was quick!"  Out of the envelope comes a typed note that Regina asked MFT to include in the package. (How nice of My Favorite Things to take the time to add the note!) Oh my, this was not my order!  Needless to say, I had to play with the flamingos and stamp set.  All the pieces of the flamingo are dies, nothing stamped.  The stamp set has a variety of sayings and the one on today's card is just one of many.  I added the sun from a WPlus9 die set to have pink and sunshine to go with the sentiment! Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Silver Lining

One more card created using the Ronald McDonald House stamp set,  Sprinkles of Life.  On today's card that frosting/cupcake stamp and punch is being used as a cloud, a cloud that has been heat embossed using silver embossing powder.  The rain drops were also created using the new Tree Builder punch. While I am thinking of it, one of the tips offered regarding punching the little shapes on the tree punch is to cut strips of paper for a particular shape.  By placing a strip of paper in the area of the shape being punched, you don't waste paper.  The silver lined cloud is the perfect companion to the sentiment on the card front.  One thing I wish I had to add to the card is new silver metallic thread that is an new item in the annual catalog.  That would definitely be tied along the fold of the card.  And once I can place an order on June 3rd, that silver thread will be on the order.  Have a great day!

Cupcake With Sprinkles

Isn't this cupcake too cute?  I punched the "frosting" using the tree punch and paper from the new  Cherry on Top DSP stack.  The stack is 6" x 6", has many cute designs and cheerful colors.  The banners were all punched using the new Banner Triple punch.  You can make the banners the length you like and 1", 1-1/2" or 2" wide.  The cake part of the cupcake and the sentiment are from the Ronald McDonald House stamp set, Sprinkles of Life.  The little hearts sprinkled all over the front of the card are from a heart punch I have, but not a SU punch.  Have a great day!

Birthday Wishes Ice Cream

So today's card uses new and old.  The new is the Ronald McDonald House stamp set Sprinkles of Life  and the Delightful Dijon ink and cardstock.  The old is the Pink Pirouette, Pistachio Pudding and Chocolate Chip cardstock and ink and the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set.  The cone color and shape is perfect. (Of course, that is Delightful Dijon.) I hand cut that.  But the scoops of ice cream were stamped and then punched using the new tree punch that coordinates with the Ronald McDonald House stamp set.  The candles are also part of the RMH set and the best part of the card is the inside which says "hope your day stacks up to be one good thing after another", also included in the stamp set.  I added a little definition to the scoops of ice cream using the white gel pen.  Come back tomorrow as I will have a cupcake card or two made with Sprinkles of Life.  Have a great day!

You've Got This

Happy Monday!  Hope all the moms and grandmas had nice Mother's Day celebrations.  I know I did.  My family is so very good to me.  A new stamp set, You've Got This, and two new colors were used on today's cards.  The set includes the flower image and the background linen-like stamp together with a few nice sentiments.  On the Watermelon Wonder card, I stamped off the background stamp twice before stamping it on the actual card, stamping the flower fully inked.  For the Mint Macaron card, I stamped off the background stamp twice before stamping it on the actual card and repeated it so that a majority of the card would be covered.  I can see this flower being used in a variety of ways using a variety of techniques and we will be using it often in future classes.  Have a great day!

Shaker Card

I am seeing shaker cards all over the internet these days.  So here is my version.  I don't think you
will be seeing very many shaker cards from me, but they are cute.  I was trying to create a circle of stars originally and after it did not look very good I switched to the shaker card.  I used our circle framelits on the top layer, the window sheet and to create the border around the window sheet.  I used the retired shaker frames to create the space between the top layer and the card base.  It worked perfectly.  But, since I did not use my embossing buddy around the inside edges of the shaker frame, the stars are sticking to it instead of moving around inside!!! Then you just might notice that in the upper left corner there is splattered ink and not on purpose.  I used retired in colors for this card, but neither the stamped image or sentiment is from Stampin' Up! The card is cute but before we make one in my class, I will perfect the technique a little more and get some foam tape since the shaker frames are no longer available.  Have a great day and a very Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day Favor

That Curvy Keepsake Framelit gets well used in my house.  Yesterday I made this pretty favor for
Mother's Day.  It was quite easy:  diecut the butterfly, cut it in half and when you have the candy or whatever in the box, close it and adhere half of the butterfly on each side of the handle; punch and adhere the little flowers and leaves if desired; stamp sentiment from Teeny Tiny wishes and tie it up with a few ribbons.  I think this would be a pretty addition to any table~~not just for Mom's but for bridal and baby showers, too. Have a great day!

Ronald McDonald House Stamp Set

I have a few stamp sets that I like in the new annual catalog, but the set used on today's card (not made by me) has to be one of my favorites.  First of all, with each purchase of the Sprinkles of Life set, Stampin' Up! will donate $3 to the Ronald McDonald House.  The RMH makes a difference in so many lives and by purchasing this set you can make a difference, too.The set consists of the tree (and there is a coordinating  punch sold separately, too!) and the little apples  shown on today's card, and then an ice cream cone, cupcake bottom, sentiments and more.  It is just adorable and we will be using it at classes very soon!  I also want to point out that the envelope was created using another new product~~envelope paper!  It is lighter weight than our DSP and comes in the new In Colors and Kraft and until I get the catalog, I am not sure what other colors, if any!  Speaking of color, the envelope and top card layer were both made using Watermelon Wonder.  There are some exciting new things and I look forward to sharing them with you.  Have a great day!

Gift Bag Punch Board

When SU offered the envelope punch board a while back I was really excited as I knew I would use it.  And shortly thereafter, We R Memory Keepers introduced the pillow box, gift bag and gift box punch boards.  I needed them all.  Well, I really didn't!  I played with them and put them away, so away I had to remember where they were~~hahaha!!  Well guess what is in the new catalog?  The Gift Bag punch board!  So I found mine yesterday and made a couple of bags.  You can make a variety of sizes and they are cute.  I used retired and retiring DSP and made two different sizes and two ways  to add ribbon to the holes you can punch.  The cupcake on the Bermuda Bay bag was made with the cupcake builder punch.  The tag on the Soft Suede bag was punched using the Note Tag Punch.  In addition to the bags I made, today I have also posted a photo showing the new In Colors!  I will be seeing them in person in a few short days and then I will let you know my favorite.  Have a great day!

Partial Dicuts

I watched another Jennifer McGuire video over the weekend, this one on how to use a die and make only a partial cut.  So I used one of our circles and Bermuda Bay cardstock to create the layer with a circle for the card.  When doing this, you only cover the section of the die that you want to cut with the acrylic cutting plates.  So I first did the top section and then flipped it around, lined up the cutting pads and cut the bottom section.  After stamping the sentiment on whisper white cardstock, I punched it out using the 2 inch circle punch and adhered it to the partially cut circle.  The balloons are Lawn Fawn balloons.  I then had to try it again using this cute little elephant die and stamp set from Avery Elle.  I am sure that after a little practice this is easy to do.  But to be honest, it is much quicker for me to just cut the die  all the way and adhere it to the card!! Have a great day!

Summer Silhouettes

Today's card is the copying of a sample straight out of the new catalog.  The stamp set is Summer Silhouettes, a current stamp and one that is in the new annual catalog.  I am not sure exactly what colors were used in the catalog, but I used a color combo I don't think I ever have~~Smokey Slate, Crushed Curry and Wild Wasabi.  Speaking of the new catalog, there are some pretty new things:  new sequins, new ribbon and some retired style ribbon in current colors (which I love) and then there is the new Ronald McDonald House stamp set that is just adorable and even coordinates with a new punch.  My wish list is growing each time I look at the catalog on line.  I am sure when I see the catalog in person, it will be worse!  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!
