Spring Thank You

After watching a video on Simon Says Stamp's blog, I decided to make the card that was demonstrated.  I had the needed tools/supplies, so it was quite easy to recreate.  All of the papers used on this card are from their paper pad, Carta Bella Spring Market.  The stamps are from their Showers & Flowers stamp set.  I did stamp and then cut out the bunny on the SNC.  In the video they stamped the bunny over the lined image and I did not care for that much.  Before cutting her out,  I colored her with three shades of gray colored pencils and some Gamsol.  I did not have a little white cotton ball for the tail, so I added a little clear Wink of Stella.  Have a great day!

Sending Hugs

The image on today's card is another digital stamp image I found on Pinterest.  I colored the little bear using alcohol markers.  I then brushed Flirty Flamingo and Crumb Cake inks on the background to make it appear as if the little bear has his paws on a table looking at someone.  I am thinking I need to draw a line between the two ink colors to make the area more defined.  The Stampin' Up Layered Square framelits were perfect for framing the image.  The polka dot paper is retired SU pattern paper in Crumb Cake.   Between the Scan N Cut and digital stamps, I am having fun exploring other avenues for card-making.  Have a great day!

Silly Flamingos

This is a silly little get well card created using Clearly Besotted's Fluffy Flamingos stamp set.  I did not purchase the dies for this set ($39!) as I hoped the Scan N Cut would cut them out.  And it did!  I stamped six and cut six and saved $39 plus!  I colored them brightly with alcohol markers and adhered them to a ink brushed piece of white cardstock.  These silly little guys will surely bring a smile to someone's face.   Have a great day!

Easter Chick

This week is turning into a Spring-themed week on my blog!  Isn't this a happy little chick?  The image is a digital stamp.  I saw the image on line so I saved it, printed it and then colored it.  I used Spectrum Noir markers and again used Avery Elle's Wonky Stitches die for the stitched border.  I have decided to keep a journal to write down what alcohol markers and colors I use for the different images.  This way, the next time I want to color a similar image, I already know what colors to use or what not to use. Have a great day!

Showers Now Flowers

Yesterday's card was the cute duck in the rain from Simon Says Stamp's Showers & Flowers stamp set.  Today is the flower part of the stamp set.  This is a very simple card.  After stamping the image, I had the Scan n Cut cut it out.  The Scan n Cut did a good job.  Of course, since I was adhering it to a white cardstock, I could have just stamped directly on the cardstock!  For today's image, I used Spectrum Noir markers to color it and added the sentiment.  After running the white cardstock thru the Big Shot with the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches dies, I wrapped the top portion with off white twine. The base of the card is a retired color from Stampin' Up.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Rainy Day Duck

Today's card is the perfect card for a rainy day.  Isn't this the cutest little duck?  The image is from a stamp set in Simon Says Stamp's new March kit.  The stamp set, Showers & Flowers, also includes a rain boot with flowers, a little bunny and a few sentiments.  I watched a video on their blog to color the  image.  I did not have all of the colors they used, but it turned out pretty cute.  As gloomy as our weather is today, this little duck is a day-brightener.   Have a great day and keep dry!

Chickie Friends

Some  of my earlier non-Stampin' Up stamps were from Denami Designs. She has cute, little chickies for just about every occasion.  We (Regina, Jen and myself) helped Denami set up a booth at a Stamp Show in St. Charles and that is how we became acquainted with her and her products. The stamp used here is her Friends stamp.  The little chickies are easy to color, although if you look closely at today's chickies you will see what a bad coloring job I did!  (I will surely fix that before sending it to someone.)  I used SU's Lemon Lime Twist ribbon and cardstock layered on yellow cardstock from Papertrey Ink.   The sentiment is from a stamp set from Stampendous, Tweet Chirps.  Have a great day!

44 Years

Today is our 44th wedding anniversary and this is the card I made for John.  I found the image online and then added "Happy 44!".  I cut it on the Scan N Cut and colored it with alcohol markers.  The little birds are just too cute!  The pattern papers are from My Favorite Things.  The pink rhinestones are Stampin' Up rhinestones that I colored pink with the alcohol markers.  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Happy Valentine's Day

As mentioned in years past, Valentine's Day was a National holiday in my house.  It was my Dad's birthday and he loved his family and his birthday.  He was like a kid when his birthday was coming.  I have many fond memories of Valentine's Day celebrations with my family.  It is still a special day in our house.  There is no birthday cake, but there is always lots of love.

Today's card is from Kathy Z.  She used Stampin' Up's Jar of Love stamp set and coordinating dies.  Kathy puts a lot of time and love into her creations~~and I love it.  Have a great day and share a little love.

Syd & Everly

Today I am posting the Valentine I made for Sydney.  My enabler friend, Paula, saw this stamp and sent me an email as she knew I would need it. Needless to say, I got on line with Penny Black Stamps and ordered the stamp, Tweetie.  Since the stamp did not have a coordinating die, the Scan N Cut was earning its keep!  The image was colored with alcohol markers to match Syd (blonde hair, denim shorts) and Everly (pretty shades of blue).  I used an old Cuttlebug embossing folder to add a little interest to the plain white background.  Syd was delighted when she opened her Valentine.  Everly is her little feathered friend and enjoys sitting on Sydney when not exploring.  They are both sooo cute~~and so loved! Have a great day!

Skating Penguin

After the wintry few days we have had, I thought a little penguin card would be appropriate for today's post..  The little penguin is from Sunny Studio Stamps' Snow Kissed set.  This penguin image is another from my growing collection of images cut on the Scan N Cut.  He was colored with Copic markers and the background was sponged using distress inks.  The little balloons were die cut from scraps of previously sponged cardstock scraps using Lawn Fawn's Party Balloons dies.  The same scraps were used to punch the little stars.  And I used my favorite birthday sentiment from SU's Cottage Greetings.  Have a great day!

A Bella Valentine

I have to share Kathy Z's Valentine for her granddaughter.  She die cut Bella with her balloon and colored both using an aqua painter and ink pads.  After looking at the balloon, she decided that a heart balloon would be adorable.  Bella and the balloon were popped up using dimensionals.  The "love" is from a Lawn Fawn set and the "love is in the air" is from a Clearly Besotted stamp set.  Isn't the card just too cute?

We have had about 6 inches of snow, maybe even more with more expected later and again on Saturday to Sunday.  It looks pretty!  Have a great weekend.

Easter Bunnies

I am early with an Easter card but I am still playing with the Scan N Cut and learning something new each day.  Today's image was clip art that was a freebie from Gerda Steiner Designs.  Wasn't sure if it would work, but I saved the image to my computer, printed it and then cut it out on the Scan N Cut. My biggest question was,
"Would the black ink from the printer smear when I colored the image with alcohol markers?"  As you can see, it did not!  Rather than add the image to my growing collection of scanned and cut images, I decided to create today's card.  The background is from a stamp my friend, Paula, brought over a couple of weeks ago.  I used Coastal Cabana ink and my Misti to create the background.  I am glad I used the Misti as it took a few times inking the large stamp for it to look almost evenly inked.  Have a great day!

Bunch of Tulips

As I watched the snow yesterday, I was thinking Spring when I made today's card.  The tulips are from the retired Stampin' Up set, Blessed Easter.  After stamping and embossing the image twice, the images were cut on the Scan N Cut.  The alcohol markers I used for the flowers match Melon Mambo almost exactly.  The scoring board lines (which you can barely see) add texture to the Melon Mambo cardstock.  Black and white checked ribbon is a nice contrast to the white and Melon Mambo, but the card still needed a little something.  Out came the little pearls.  Have a great day!

Red and White Love You

With Valentine's Day just a week away, I needed to make a few more so I can get them in the mail.  Today's card is quite simple and did not take a lot of time to create.  Once again, the heart die from Simon Says Stamp was put to good use.  The word "love" was cut using a die from Lawn Fawn.  The red checked ribbon is from Stampin' Up from many years ago.  I would say it has to be ten years old.  I liked that ribbon then and I still do.  Have a great day and be careful if you are out and about today!

Little Hummingbirds

Jennifer McGuire and Sandy Allnock both did posts using the Pretty Pink Posh Hummingbird Thanks stamp set which caught my attention.   I ordered the set without ordering the coordinating dies and thanks to the Scan N Cut, the little hummingbirds cut out perfectly.  Actually, I stamped six hummingbirds and all six cut perfectly.  I used Copic markers to color the hummingbirds to match Green Galore and Bermuda Bay cardstock.  My Favorite Things' Inside and Out Stitched Rectangle dies added nice detail to the white and Green Galore cardstock layers.  The sentiment is one of the sentiments in the Pretty Pink Posh stamp set, Everyday Greetings. Before adhering all of the elements on the white cardstock, I did ink the edges of the white cardstock. After adhering the little hearts, I just had to add a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh's Mermaid Sequins mix (so pretty).  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Something Old

I did not post yesterday and I do not have a new card to post today. (That's because the card I did make for today really leaves a lot to be desired!) But I know that a few of you will be wondering if I am okay if I don't post for two days in a row.  So today, I am posting an old card that I thought was pretty when I made it and still think it is pretty.   And while listening to the weather forecast, warm wishes will be appreciated very soon!   Have a great day!
