Cherry On Top

When I found this black checked paper in my stash of too much pattern paper, I knew My Favorite Things' Cherry On Top stamp set would make the perfect card,  It surely is a clean and simple card.  It reminds me of Mary Engelbreit cards and stationery,  I had to look her up to not only correctly spell her name but to see if she still had things for sale!  And while looking at her fabric online, I was thinking that the card needs a little yellow.  After stamping and coloring the cherry, I added Glossy Accents on top of the cherry.

Supplies:
Stampin' Up:  Whisper White and Real Red cardstock
My Favorite Things:  Cherry On Top stamp set
Miscellaneous:  Pattern paper, Copic markers, Glossy Accents

Lemons

As I was drinking some lemonade, I thought about Sweet N Sassy's Summer Fruits stamp set and the fact that there was a lemon image in it.  Later that day I went downstairs and made today's two cards.  I used framelits to create the oval and square in the black polka dot paper.  After stamping the sentiments, I used a Copic pen to make the little black dots on both the white backgrounds and the lemons.

Supplies:
Sweet N Sassy Stamps:  Summer Fruits stamp set
Sunny Studio Stamps:  Fresh and Fruity stamp set and dies
Stampin' Up:  Circles and Squares framelits; Dimensionals
Miscellaneous:  Copic markers and sequins

16

We celebrated Sydney's 16th birthday on Wednesday by sending texts back and forth!  I just can't believe that 16 years has passed since the arrival of this pretty little baby!  I was in town for the big event and the day before she was born Jen and I had gone to Walker Brothers Pancake House for lunch.  After an enjoyable lunch, we got in the car and it wouldn't start.  Jen called the car dealer and they sent a tow truck.  After they hooked up the car, they told us to get into the tow truck!  Jen had to almost crawl into the cab of the tow truck.  The next morning, she woke up and off we went to the hospital.  Syd was born that night.

This year Syd is at camp celebrating with her friends`~old and new~~and the lemurs, scorpions, llamas and more.  We sent cards and little gifts with her when she left for camp and will celebrate when she returns.

Supplies:
Stampin' Up:  Retired Bermuda Bay paper

For Our Heroes

Many of the cards I make and post here, I send to Cards For Soldiers.  The other day I read that Charly, the woman who started Cards For Soldiers, was in need of 5,000 thank you cards for our sailors at sea near Japan.  When I heard the need for cards for sailors, I got right to work on them.  My Dad loved his time in the Navy and this need especially tugged at my heart strings.  Yesterday, I was able to add notes of encouragement to each one of the dozen hero cards.

There is also a need of 2,000 get well cards for our sailors.  I understand they are getting hit hard with Co-vid, too.  Over the weekend I worked on a dozen thank you cards for our sailors and yesterday I started on the get well cards. With all this craziness going on in the world, making cards for our military is putting my at home time to good use.  Have a great day!

Rectangle Stencil

Last Friday I posted a card using MFT's Pool stencil.  Today's cards were created with the help of MFT's Rectangle Extraordinaire stencil.  The stencil is two pieces~~one made the green rectangle frame and the other made a white rectangle frame.  I centered the stencils on the white cardstock and then taped the stencil down at the corners for sponging.  I also added some temporary adhesive on back of the white cardstock so that it didn't move while sponging.  You can use the stencils for sponging, spray painting, splattering and more.  Using the stencils was much easier than taping down all of the edges equally to make a frame.  I know that I could have made this stencil on my Cricut or Scan N Cut, but buying this plastic stencil was much easier!

Supplies:
My Favorite Things Stamps:  Rectangle stencil; All The Cupcakes stamp set; All The Cupcakes dies
Stamps of Life:  Birthday 4 Cookie stamp set
Miscellaneous:  Copic markers; Ranger Distress Inks

Pool Water Stencil

For my birthday, John gave me a gift certificate to My Favorite Things Stamps.  In MFT's latest release, there were two stencils that caught my eye.  One was the Pool Water stencil and after watching the video, I needed it!   I tried different ways of using the stencil.  One was to use blue cardstock and then sponge Distress Ink over the stencil.  For another I used white cardstock and then sponged over the stencil with the same Distress Ink.  Third was to use a different shade of blue cardstock and Distress Ink. After inking, I would rotate the stencil 90 degrees and ink again.  That is what gives the "pool water" look.  It was a little work to make the water for the pools on my cards, but it really does look like pool water!

Supplies:
My Favorite Things Stamps:  Drink Up The Sunshine  and Sunshine & Friends stamp sets; Pool Water stencil; pool die
Lawn Fawn:  Rectangle  Stitched dies
Avery Elle:  Wonky Stitches dies
Copic markers

Friendship

Today's card was made by my friend, Paula.  I received this "happy mail" early last week and I smile each time I see it on the counter across from the sink.  Bermuda Bay is one of my favorite Stampin' Up colors and the black ink adds a bit of crispness to the images.    Sometimes you forget that your friends remember little things about you~~like your favorite color!

Supplies:
Stampin' Up: Beautiful Friendship stamp set; Bermuda Bay, Black and not sure which green inks; Bermuda Bay ribbon; Black and white cardstock; Bermuda Bay pattern paper

Lovely card, Paula.  Thank you.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Berry Sweet

Yesterday my friend, Paula, came over for a driveway date.  The weather was perfect to sit outside.  We had a very enjoyable afternoon~~although not crafting together is getting too old.

Last week I saw a card by Korin Sutherland on Facebook. so I went to Sweet N Sassy Stamps to see the set.  Of course I ordered it!  The card was very cute as were the colors used.   I received the stamp set on Saturday and stamped and colored in the berries after I opened the package.  When Paula left, both Korin's card and spending the afternoon with Paula were my inspiration for making a card similar to Korin's.  Paula is a berry sweet friend to have!

Supplies:
Sweet N Sassy Stamps:  Summer Fruits stamp set
Doodlebug Designs:  Land That I Love pattern paper

Another Set of Three Plus Two

We had to be out and about early yesterday, so posting today.  I was on a roll making cards for Cards For Soldiers.  Even though the three similar cards are simple, they are still cute enough for someone to happily receive.  They are short and to the point with the inside remaining blank for personal notes.

The little patriotic bird paper was so cute, that I decided to make a couple more cards for our military.  I think they are adorable!

Stampin' Up:  White, Tip Top Taupe and Real Red cardstock; Taupe and Calypso Coral DSP
Pretty Pink Posh:  Thoughtful Greetings,  Everyday Greetings and Happy Mail stamp sets

Making Triples

The weekend went too quickly and it was a good weekend!  Last week I was making cards for Sydney to take to camp.  She will be there for a month and she will be there for her 16th birthday.  Now that she is older, just said she didn't really need a card everyday, so I only made four, one for each week.  So I used that unused time to make triples of cards for Cards For Soldiers.  They were quick and easy.

Supplies:
Stampin' Up:  Real Read, Tip Top Taupe and White cardstock; Tip Top Taupe designer paper
Doodlebug Designs:  Land That I Love pattern paper; Easter pattern paper
Pretty Pink Posh:  Everyday Greetings; Happy Mail
Miscellaneous:  Variety of framelits

For Kids

In keeping with sending a variety of cards to the Cards For Soldiers organization, I created today's adorable cards for our military to send to the children in their lives.  The background on the mermaid card was created using a new embossing folder from Stampin' Up.  I think it is one of the best embossing folders I have.  The rhinestones, also Stampin' Up, were colored with alcohol markers.

Supplies:
Stampin' Up:  White and Bashful Blue cardstock; Seabed 3D embossing folder;
My Favorite Things:  Mermazing and Penguins in Paradise stamp sets; Wonky Stitched Circle dies
Pretty Pink Posh:  Thoughtful Greetings stamp set
Copic markers

Happy 4th of July!  Have a great weekend!

One Pretty/One Cute

I have two cards to post today.  The first is the birthday card I received on Monday from my friend, Cherie.  There is so much detail, starting with the stamped images, die cuts, coloring, embossing and ending with the little rhinestones on the blue flowers.  Cherie used SU"s Grace's Garden stamp set and matching dies and I think it is the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder.  Thank you to another of my talented friends for such a beautiful card!

And now I have my card for today~~this cute ladybug card to go to Cards For Soldiers.  It is cute and fun and easy to color.  The images were colored with alcohol markers.  The circle and the edges of the polka dot paper were all sponged with black ink.

Supplies:
Stampin' Up:  Little Ladybug stamp set,  stitched circle dies and Whisper White thick cardstock
Recollections:  Polka Dot paper

Have a great day and keep cool!
