Happy Birthday Slimline Card

Happy Friday!  Needless to say, I did purchase a set of slimline card dies.  I cut the word "HAPPY" on my Scan N Cut.  The confetti and streamers were punched with a Stampin' Up punch.  Today's card measures 8-1/2" x 3-1/2".   (I would like a border around the edge of the pink scalloped rectangle, so next time, I will make my card base 8-3/4" x 3-3/4".)  I sponged the white top layer, measuring 8-1/8" x 3 1/8", with Distress Inks. A splatter of white acrylic ink added a little texture to the background.

Supplies:
Sunny Studio Stamps:  Sweet Celebrations
Stampin' Up:  Sprinkles Punch (retired)
Distress Inks

I also made an envelope that coordinates with the card.  I posted a video showing how to make envelopes for a slimline card.  Have a great weekend!

Remember The Bird Punch?

Hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend.  We did go to Matt's house for a cookout.  It wasn't the big party he usually hosts, but at least we were together.

I was looking thru Stampin' Up cards on Pinterest when I came across cards using the retired Bird Builder Punch.  I remember how much I liked and used that punch and decided to use it again! For both cards I embossed a cardstock layer and speckled the center layer using acrylic ink.  I still like that punch and need to use it more often!

Supplies:
Stampin' Up:  Embossing folders; Green, Bashful Blue, Blueberry Bushel and White cardstock; Bird Builder punch
Avery Elle:  Wonky Stitched Frames dies
WPlus 9:  Happy Mail stamp set

Have a great day!

Birds and Another Diagonal Fold Card

I have to share the two photos of recent visitors to our bird feeder outside my office.  This bird is a male rose-breasted grosbeak.  It is migration time for them.  Some stay here while others continue on their migration path.  There were two males at once, but I couldn't get that photo.  The females are very plain and not crisp or colorful.

Last week I shared a card my friend, Nancy, created.  Her card was very pretty and piqued my interest as to how to make one.  I looked at a couple videos and decided to try my hand it at.   Nancy's card was vertical, so I made mine horizontal.  I will be making more cards of this style in the future.  The supplies include:

Sunny Studio Stamps:  Summer Treats stamp set
Stampin' Up:  Square Layering dies

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Slimline Card

Recently, I have been seeing "slimline" cards. The cards are very cute so I started looking at blogs and online stores for more information.  I have decided to make a couple before I invest in any dies that I have seen.  Trinity Stamps has a few.  Luckily, their dies are sold out everywhere!  That makes it easy for me to "try before I buy"!  Today 's card is the first slimline card I have made.  This one measures 4" x 8-1/2" and it fits in a regular business size envelope.  Many slimline cards that I see online measure slightly different.

Supplies:
Sunny Studio Stamps:  Summer Treats and Sweet Shop stamp sets
Stampin' Up:  Pixie Pink cardstock; Stitched Shapes circle
My Favorite Things:  Stitched Scallop Circles
Miscellaneous:  Copic Markers; sequins

Have a great day!

Botanical Blooms

It was another weekend of social distancing and rain.  So, I set out to clean my scraproom.  In other words, I played in my scraproom!  These are two of the cards I made, same layout different colors. The supplies include:

Stampin' Up:  Botanical Blooms stamp set; Botanical Builder Framelits; Circle dies; White, Soft Sky and Green Galore cardstock and ink; and Soft Sky retired pattern paper

Clearly Besotted:  Scrumptious Occasions stamp set

Lawn Fawn:  Yellow pattern paper

Miscellaneous:  Twine, rhinestones and dimensionals

Have a great day!

Sailing Home

John and I went to Home Depot on Wednesday to get paint samples.  We couldn't believe how busy Home Depot was considering the co-vid stay at home order.  Inside, everyone was wearing masks.  We only go where we have to and most people I know are doing the same.  But, if we can go to Home Depot without being limited in number, why do I have to wait in lines at Walmart and Sam's Club?

Today's card is another that would be perfect for Father's Day.  The supplies are as follows:

Stampin' Up: Sailing Home stamp set; Lost Lagoon, White and Smoky Slate cardstock; Lost Lagoon Ribbon; Seaside embossing folder;  and Stitched Shapes dies

Keep dry and have a great weekend!

Peace and Comfort

I am recently finding a need for sympathy cards.  Today's card is quite simple and easy to make.  I cut a  one inch circle out of white paper and used temporary adhesive to adhere it to the white cardstock layer.  With a little sponge I added the blue ink around that circle and along the left edge.  After removing the paper circle, I stamped the image.   Items used:

Stampin' Up: Wetlands stamp set; white and black cardstock
Close To My Heart:  Words of Comfort stamp set
Unknown:  Seagulls stamp
Inks:  Blue Distress ink and Black Memento ink

Change the sentiment and this card would be a nice Father's Day card.  Have a great day!

The Coolest Birthday

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and a nice Mother's Day.  I know I did.  Matt had to work two 12 hour days this weekend, so he came over on Friday.  Jen and Sydney came over on Saturday for our Mother's Day driveway celebration after seeing the weather forecast for Sunday.  It was perfect.  We will have a big and normal celebration once the co-vid isolation is over.

I am trying something different this week when posting.  Instead of writing descriptive sentences for every item used on my card, I am going to list the items used. So here goes:

Sunny Studio Stamps:  Summer Treats stamp set
Stampin' Up':  Retired Timeless Label punch
Papertrey Ink:  Hawaiian Shores paper and cardstock
Miscellaneous:  Alcohol Markers, Scan N Cut and white brads

I can't remember the last time I used brads, but the ends of the label called for them!  Have a great day!

Flamazing Daughter

On Wednesday we celebrated Jenny's birthday.  Since we had to social distance, we all drove thru Culvers and then parked in an empty parking lot and pulled out our lawn chairs.  It was a little chilly, but we certainly had fun.

Today's card is the one I made for Jen.  I have had the flamingo paper for awhile. It is a square card embellished with some tropical foliage to coordinate with the paper.  The sentiment is a collaboration of stamp sets.  My Favorite Things' Razzle Berry cardstock was the perfect pink cardstock.  It has been 45 years, but I clearly remember knowing that if I did not go into labor that night, I would be getting induced the next morning.  So I worried all night hoping I would go into labor.  No such luck,  I  was induced at 8:00 and she appeared at 1:38 in the afternoon.  We are as happy with her today as we were on the day she was born.  Couldn't have been blessed with a better daughter!  Have a great day!

Diagonal Fold Card

Today's card was created by my friend, Nancy.  It is so pretty.  Many of the items used for this card are from Stampin' Up's Parisian Blossoms Suite.  Nancy started with a diagonal Petal Pink fancy fold card base.  On one side she used paper from the coordinating specialty paper; on the other she used the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder with Pool Party cardstock.  The flourish border image and the flourish are from the Parisian Beauty stamp set.

The fancy circle and the frame used for the sentiment are from the Painted Labels die set included in the Painted Poppies Bundle.  I am not sure, but I think Nancy cut the label once in the silver paper and again in Pool Party, trimming the edge around the Pool Party label in order to layer it.  All of these items are in the Occasions catalog which runs thru May.  Thank you, Nancy!  Have a great day everyone!

Pretty Pink and Black

I made this card for my friend, Kathy, who celebrated her birthday yesterday. The images are from Pink & Main's Daisy Bugs stamp set.  I used a die to cut the circle in the white layer.  The white layer was embossed after I cut the circle. If I embossed the polka dots first, thanks to the Big Shot, they would have been flat.  For the sentiment I stamped it in clear Versamark ink prior to adding the embossing powder.  Pink and black is one of my favorite color combinations.  Kathy, hope you had a great birthday even with the social distancing!  Have a great day!

Softer Tea Cards

I made two more cards using the Tea-riffic stamp set from Sunny Studio Stamps.  They are pretty much similar to Wednesday's card, but softer.  I especially like the pink and gray card.  If the flowers were blue, it would match my china.  The images were stamped using a gray Memento ink and no embossing powder.  As a reminder,  use Memento Ink if coloring with alcohol markers and you are not embossing the images.   It's Versafine Ink if using embossing powder. The outline of the image is very subtle compared to stamping the images in black ink.  The white layers were die cut with Lawn Fawn's Scallop Rectangles dies.  The second layers were embossed with two different embossing folders.  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!
