Butterfly Basics w/o a Butterfly

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend in spite of  the social distancing.  My house is looking prettier than usual.  Every time another room gets refreshed, that is my favorite.  Right now, my dining room is the biggest change.  Next will be my office.

While John is painting, I am in my scrap room.  I am making multiples of the same card not only for Cards For Soldiers and Cards For Little Hearts, but also for a few elderly people living in Friendship Village.  Today's cards will go to them.  For the first card I stamped the image and sentiment using Memento black ink.  It is pretty.  The next card I used Grey Memento ink and I liked that much better.  The image is from Stampin' Up's Butterfly Basics stamp set.  I used Pink Pirouette and Soft Sea Foam cardstock.  The images were colored with alcohol markers.   Two different embossing folders were used for the white layers.  Have a great day!

More Birthday Balloons

Last week I posted a card using Fun Stampers Journey's Birthday Sketch stamp set.  On that card I colored all of the balloons.  I then decided that I could just make a monotone card.  First came a black one and it looked nice.  So, I made another.  I then made the same card in Midnight Navy and Real Red. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's Cottage Greetings stamp set.    Cards For Soldiers will be getting these cards along with many others I plan on making in the next couple of weeks of "social isolation".  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Sitting Bunny

Today's card was created using the Easter Bunnies stamp set from MFT.   The Coastal Cabana layer was die cut using the frame die from WPlus9's Sunshine Layers die set.  After coloring the image with alcohol markers, I cut it out on my Scan N Cut.  Since I colored in the grass, the SNC even cut around the green area.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's Teeny Tiny Wishes~~one of my best SU purchases!

I hope you are all doing some fun things during our "isolation".  Since John and I are retired, we are used to being at home during the day.  I miss spending time with my family, Cricut Sundays with my friends and lunch or dinners with friends, but I have enough to keep me busy.  John misses going to the Sportsmen Club and shooting with his friends.  As much as I miss spending time with my family and friends, I would rather be safe than sorry.  I remind myself often that this too shall pass!  Have a great day!

Dragon Feel Well Soon

I needed a get well card and I wanted it to include a dragon from MFT's Magical Dragons.  After thinking about it for awhile, I decided that with some masking and Lawn Fawn's Love Letters and Love Poems stamp sets I could get my desired image.  I first stamped the cell phone, adding the sentiment to it.  After stamping another cell phone image, I cut it out and laid it on top of the cell phone on my card.  I then stamped the dragon over the cell phone mask.  Off came the mask and it worked~~the dragon is holding the cell phone.  I used Avery Elle's Wonky Stitched rectangle die for the aqua layer and MFT's Wonky Circle die for the dragon layer.     I then masked both the dragon and the cell phone and sponged Pumpkin Spice Distress Ink over the images.  It is cute enough and I am sure will get a smile from the recipient.  Have a great day!

Pretty Easter Colors

Isn't' this a cute little Easter bunny?  It is one of the images in My Favorite Things' Easter Bunnies stamp set.  This is another Stacey Yacula set.  Her stamps are not completely closed so my Scan N Cut doesn't always read the images to cut them properly.  Since this was my first colored image with this stamp set I did not attempt to cut it out.  I stamped on white cardstock and then die cut a circle in the pink layer.  The texture on the pink cardstock was created using my scoring tool.  One card down, a number of them to go!  Have a great weekend spending quality time at home!

Stampin' Up Easter

Both John and I are using our creativity sprucing up the house.  Mostly I come up with the ideas and shop online while John does the work!  In between that, I have been making some Easter cards.  Today's card was created using Stampin' Up products.  The cross is from SU's Special Blessings stamp set.  Other than the sentiment, everything used for this card is Stampin' Up!  I was going to use Balmy Blue flowers to coordinate with the Balmy Blue oval background, but they didn't show up that great.  So I punched white flowers and sponged the edges with Balmy Blue ink.

I hope you are all healthy and sticking around your houses.  We went to the grocery store Monday, but other than that, we are home.  Today John has a doctor appointment.  Thought for sure it would be cancelled, but no such luck.   Going to a doctor's office is the last place I want him to go.  Oh, well!  Have a great day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I made this card a few weeks ago and set it aside.  When I wanted it, I couldn't find it until Sunday night.  I used Lucky and a clover stamp from Stacey Yacula.  And once again, Teeny Tiny Wishes from Stampin' Up had the just right sentiment.  The gold cardstock and pattern paper are retired SU products.

In the past, we have gone to the Village Tavern on St. Patrick's Day with our friends, Mickey and Lenora.  Not this year! We will have a quiet day at home with pot roast!  Make the most of the day and make it a great one!

Birthday Balloons

Today's card was created using Fun Stampers Journey's Birthday Sketch stamp set.  The images were stamped using Momento gray ink.  I originally stamped in black ink and that was just too dark to color.  The scalloped edge was created using a die from Stampin' Up's Be Mine dies.  The glitter dots are also from Stampin' Up.  This was a rather easy card to create.  Later in the week I will show you what I did with the black stamped images.  Have a great day!

A Dragon & A Mermaid

Yesterday was a rather gloomy day.  So when I went down to my craft room I decided to make a fun and colorful card.  I was enjoying the colors I used for the dragon card, so decided to color a mermaid using the same colors.  The stamp sets used are both from My Favorite Things stamps,  Magical Dragons and Mermazing.  The scalloped cardstock pieces were created using  one of the dies in Stampin' Up's Stitched Be Mine die set.  These cards were very fun to make.  Have a great day!

Friends

Isn't the image on today's card one of MFT's cutest stamps?  The little girls are so cute.  They actually reminded me of me and my sister when I first saw it.  We were always together.  Anyway, I purchased the stamp set, You're My Person, and used it for today's card.  I have something for which I plan on using this image, but as with any new stamp, I had to use it once right away!  I used Penny Black's Words Express stamp set to create the sentiment.  And what worked was that the purples I used to color the dress matched MFT's pattern paper almost perfectly~~even though it looks blue on the blog!  Have a great day!

An Easter Card

I made a few Easter cards for kids and decided it would be a good idea to make a few Easter cards for the adults in my life.  I used the Showers and Flowers stamp set from Simon Says stamp.  I first stamped the bunny on the white cardstock.  After stamping the bunny on a piece of paper and cutting it out, I placed it over the stamped image as a mask.  I then stamped the rain boot.  When I removed the mask, the bunny was in front of the boot~~just like I wanted it.  I used alcohol markers to color everything.  The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up set, Well Scripted.  Have a great weekend!

Little Elephant Catching the "O"

Last week a card on Pinterest that was created with the Unfortgettable stamp set from WPlus 9 caught my eye.  I had the stamp set and got to work.  Once  the card was finished, I went back to Pinterest and the card I saw was from a Jennifer McGuire Ink video.  Rather than watch the video before I made the card, I watched it when the card was finished~~duh!  As it turns out, Julia Altermann, the card creator, used watercolor markers for her version.  She also used letters that could be water-colored.  I cut the "hello" on my Scan N Cut.  I will try using watercolor markers and use her technique to make another!  Have a great day!

No Cone!

On Friday, my little friends from across the street came over for a card-making session.  Their dad likes St. Patrick's Day, so each child had their choice of images to use on their card.  (I don't have many stamps for this occasion.  So, I printed up clip art images from which they could choose.)  The image I thought the little boy would choose was a stein of green beer.  When he saw the beer, that is the one he had to use.  Then Matt came over and he teased them all a bit.  Later in the morning, we were eating a snack and Matt and John came upstairs.  Matt started joking around and the little boy started acting so silly~~exactly as Matt did when he was 7!  His sisters thought that both of the boys were quite funny.  There was lots of laughter in the kitchen on Friday.  It was a great morning!

I needed a couple get well cards so I was looking for ideas for the Art Impressions Doggy Kisses stamp set. I came across cards by Sandy Allnook using the set in a video.  Her video was about making signage on your cards.  Of course, I had to try it,  The card on the left was my first attempt and I was pleased with it.  But I still wanted it to look like Sandy's.  So I tried again.  The card on the right is my second attempt.  I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.  They are both cute.  Have a great day!
