Easter Peeps

The Simon Says stamp set, My Kind of Peeps, is still one of my favorites. It is Easter time, so out came those little peeps.  I used two patterns of Pool Party DSP, the top layer being cut with WPlus9's Sunshine Layers die. Both the polka dot layer and a foam layer underneath were die cut using a circle framelit.  It doesn't look like it, but the sequins are not as dark as in the photo.  After stamping the sentiment on a strip of white cardstock, I ran it thru the Big Shot using that WPlus9 die so that the banner edge matched the edge of the top layer.  It is a fun Spring card. Have a great day!

Easter Favors

I was thinking about doing a pillow box favor for Easter.  As I was looking thru my framelits, I came across Stampin' Up's square pillow box die.  I forgot I had it!  I used Lawn Fawn plaid paper for the boxes.  The little chicks were made using Lawn Fawn's Happy Hatchling dies.  After sponging the edges of the chicks, eyes and beaks were added and the chicks were finished off with the bottom part of the egg shells.  Have a great day!

Chicks In The Future

My son, Matthew, is going to raise chickens.  He is in the process of building a chicken coop and has ordered a variety of chickens.  Not all eggs will be white.  As a matter of fact, one of the chickens he is getting will be producing dark brown eggs. While trying to decide what Easter card to make for him, I found this image online.  The hen and her Easter eggs is a digi stamp that I saw on Pinterest.  I have no idea where it originated.  The card is so cute and the twine and purple checked paper gives it a country look.  In the near future, you will see posts of baby chicks instead of a card!  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time.

Easter Card Week

This week I will be posting Easter cards.  I am starting with a pretty Easter card we received from my friend, Kathy Z.  She created this card using the Basket Bunch stamp set and framelits.  She colored the images using Stampin' Up's Blendabilities.  I like the design of this card.  That scalloped edge along the bottom is adorable!  Thank you for the pretty card, Kathy!!  Have a good week!

Same Image, Two Designs

My friend, Dawn, was over Wednesday afternoon.  She brought stamped and embossed images~~some for her, some for me~~to cut on the Scan N Cut.  Yesterday we both used the same image, each of us at our own house.  It just so happened that she texted me a pic of her Calla Lily card as I was finishing up my card. This particular image is from Stampin' Up's retired stamp set, Long Stem Flowers.  We both colored the flowers and embossed some of the cardstock used and that is where the similarities end.  Dawn doubled up on the flowers, added twine and embellished with pretty pearls.   I left mine very plain using a sentiment from the retired SU set, Wonderful Words. We made two pretty cards, if I say so myself!  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time.

Heartfelt Blooms

Today's cards are quite easy to create.  The image and sentiments are from Stampin' Up's Heartfelt Blooms Sale-a-bration set.  The color combination for the first card is Tip Top Taupe and Pink Pirouette.  The image on the next card was stamped with Smokey Slate ink and the sentiment with Basic Gray ink.  I know the card color isn't showing that well, but I really like the card and that Smokey Slate gingham checked ribbon (which looks like it has a little stain on it, but doesn't).  This stamp set would make a pretty assortment of cards to give as a gift.  Have a great day!

Birthday Flowers

Over the weekend a few friends came over to play with paper and ink. Paula brought the Birthday Blooms stamp set by Stampin' Up.  I have had that set marked in the catalog since the catalog first came out almost a year ago, but found other things to purchase.  So I was rather happy that Paula shared!  Once the image was stamped and embossed, I just had to cut the flower image on the Scan N Cut.  And again, the perfect cut!  I used Spectrum Noir markers to color the image.  Before adhering the image to the card, I splattered a few ink drops on the white cardstock and added a little silver thread.  Once the sentiment was stamped and the card was put together, it needed a little bling.  Out came the rhinestones and a pink alcohol marker to color the rhinestones.  They were the perfect finishing touch.  Have a great day!

Party On Balloons

Last week I posted a card using Richard Garay's digital stamp set, Party On.  Today's card is another using the same set.  After putting the card together, it reminded me of a Disney card,  The colors are just so Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  The sentiment is another from Pretty Pink Posh.   I left a few open white spaces on the card as I just might add a couple little Mickey icons to bring Mickey into the design.  Have a great day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The image on today's card was found on Pinterest as a stamp image.  I printed it out, colored it with alcohol markers and designed the card around it.  I used two pattern papers and a white card base.  It took a little while to color but it was a rather easy card to make.  I hope you all have a great St. Patrick's Day and weekend!

Five Little Candles

Using up some of my retired supplies a little at a time.  Today's card was created using Bermuda Bay retired Designer Series Paper and Baker's Twine and current Bermuda Bay cardstock for the card base.  The candles were colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  The five little candles and the sentiment are included in Richard Garay's digital download, Party On.  This digital download was $10 and I received a PDF file that is downloaded on my computer.   The file includes six images and 5 sentiments.  He creates his downloads to work with electronic die cutting machines.  I will let you know how that works!!  You will see more cards created with this digital set in the future.  Have a great day!

Hippity-Hoppity

I started out making a card I watched Richard Garay create but it changed a bit along the way.  Richard was with Stampin' Up many years ago and then was the main person at Fun Stampers Journey.  There were some problems/issues there and since then he has started his own company.  I watched one of his videos and liked the layout of the card he was showing.  So I worked on recreating his card.  The sprinkling can filled with flowers and the sentiment are his.  The little bunny is from Lawn Fawn.  The images were colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  Definitely a fun card to make! Have a great day!

Bunch of Shamrocks

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I spent time making cards for St. Patrick's Day and watched a number of videos with card-making and Scan N Cut tips.  The images on today's card are all from the Internet~~printed, colored and then cut on the Scan N Cut.  I never realized there were so many images available for free.  That being said, I have not stopped buying stamps.  There are way too many cute sets out there that have my name on them!  Have a great day!

Hello Kitten

Happy Friday!  After going thru a few images I stamped and then cut on the Scan N Cut, this little kitten was looking like he belonged on a card. So rather than clean my scrap room, I colored the image and made today's card.  The image and sentiment are from Stampin' Up's Pretty Kitty stamp set.  This card can be used for a variety of occasions~~thinking of you, feel better, happy birthday and more.  The black layer was embossed with the polka dot retired embossing folder.  The pink enamel dots add a little brightness to the black.  Have a great weekend!

Chubby Little Guy

This little guy is still one of my favorite Sale-a-bration images ever.  He is from the Honeycomb Happiness set from a few years ago.  I have many little bird stamps and this chubby little guy is one of the cutest.  The background paper is from My Favorite Things and the yarn is from a retired My Paper Pumpkin set.   I rather enjoy making Spring cards.  They are full of happiness and cuteness.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Girl With Present

Today's digital stamp was found on Pinterest.  It looks very much like an image from My Favorite Things' Pure Innocence collection.  I spent some time trying to find the original stamp set on line, but no luck.  She was cut on the Scan N Cut before coloring her.  She is adhered to an Old Olive oval which was cut using Stampin' Up's Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The pattern papers are both retired SU Designer Papers.  The sentiment is from the retired Short and Sweet set by SU.  I should have colored her little heart barrette pink, but too late!  Have a great day!

Birthday Cupcake

Today's image is a cupcake digital stamp.  I cut the image on the Scan N Cut after printing the image on my Canon printer.   If you don't have a Scan N Cut, you can still make this card or one similar using a digital stamp you find and save.  I use Microsoft Word for sizing and then printing digital stamps.  For those images I will not cut with my SNC, I leave enough white space around the image to make it a 5-1/4" x 4" layer.  Since I know I am going to be coloring images, I do use cardstock that is made especially for alcohol markers.  And since that cardstock is a little more costly, I try to space things so that I am not wasting a whole lot of the cardstock. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's Cottage Greetings stamp set.   Have a great day!

From Sydney

Last Sunday, John and I celebrated our anniversary with Matt, Jen, Mark and Sydney.  We went to Cooper Hawk's restaurant for an enjoyable dinner.  Today I am posting the picture Sydney made for us.  It is adorable.

I also am sharing a beautiful swan that Sydney made at school.  We just found out that her swan was chosen to represent Mead Junior High at the District 54 Board Room Art Display.  After being on display at the District for a year, it will then be displayed over Jen & Mark's fireplace!  She is such a talented girl. The trees in the background are also her creations for the Dr. Seuss presentation at Mead in a couple of weeks.  She is part of the Drama Club, but wants to do the props rather than the drama. As you can tell, I am very proud of my granddaughter.   Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Yellow Lilies

I wanted to make a mat for a die from Stampin' Up's retired Apothecary Accents framelits.  After scanning a diecut of the framelit, I increased the size a little to create the black layer and cut it out.  It worked great.  After making the card, I decided I want that black layer to be a smidgen thicker so I increased the size once more before saving it on the SNC.  I now have a mat layer for anytime I use this particular Apothecary Accent framelit.  The lilies are a digital stamp colored with alcohol markers.  Have a great day!
