Cricut Lacey Card

I have been getting reacquainted with my Cricut Explore the past few days.  I made today's card with the Lacey Card design, using only one layer of the card.  After the design was cut out, I adhered it to a Pool Party card base.  I could have made the entire card on the Explore, but using my own card base was just as easy.  The sentiment is from the Pretty Pink Posh stamp set, Thoughtful Greetings.  I then added a little pearl to the flower space that was left in the design and added that flower to the inside of the card. This is an elegant clean and simple card.  Have a great day!

Flower Box Card

Since I completed everything that I had  to do down in my scrap room (except the cleaning of it), I decided to play with Lawn Fawn's Scallop Box  Card Pop Up die.  The flowers were stamped and punched using Stampin' Up's Flower Shop stamp set and the coordinating Pansy Punch.  The leaves were punched from the Bird Builder Punch,  And then I decided to play with my Cricut Explore, so I made the little bird for practice!  He was cute enough to rate the front of the card box!  Have a great weekend!

Baby Pages

In addition to creating the candy birthday cakes during the past
couple of weeks, I was also making a baby scrapbook for my brother and sister-in-law's granddaughter.  When I was asked to do it, my first thought was. "I have not scrapbooked in years"!  But I took out my Cricut Expression and got to work.  (Actually, I thought about using my Cricut Explore but then thought I would waste too much time trying to figure it out again!)  I am posting the first and last pages and one of the pages in between.  The pages aren't as bright as they appear here.  But the book is already on its way to Arizona so I cannot retake the photos.  Have a great day!

In My Thoughts

I used my new favorite DSP, Whole Lot of Lovely, on today's card.  I wish I could buy just a couple of the patterns separately as I really, really like the pattern on today's card.  The orange against the black is so striking.  The DSP was cut and layered on to a Pool Party backing before being adhered to the black card base.  I am also using one of my favorite die sets, Stitched Shapes.  The sentiment is from a My Paper Pumpkin set from a while back.  The inside is lined with Pool Party for the sentiment and a little handwritten note.  Have a great day and find yourself  a little stampin' time!

Little Mermaids

Sydney chose the dolphin cake! Her birthday card is a shaker card created with  MFT's BB Mermazing stamp set and dies.  The mermaid and sea creatures were all colored with Spectrum Noir markers. I used Stampin' Up's Seaside embossing folder for the background layer, perfect for an under the sea scene.  This, too, is just adorable!

And the last mermaid card or cake (for now) was created using the same stamp set and Zig Real Color Brush watercolor pens.  Again, the Seaside embossing folder was used for the background layer.  Watercolor paper was used for the smaller layer, the mermaid and the fish. The Zig Real Color pens are easy to use and can be used in a variety of ways.  There are a number of videos on line to learn more about how to use these pens.  I used a happy color combination for the mermaid and it turned into another very cute card.  Have a great day!

Hershey Nugget Birthday Cakes

A few weeks ago, I posted a photo of the birthday cake my friend, Cherie, made for me.  I was so taken with the cake, that I had to make one for Sydney.  It is just adorable.  The little mermaids in MFT's BB Mermazing stamp set are so cute.   And then I made another cake using Sunny Studio's stamp set Oceans of Joy and dies.  The dolphins and other sea creatures are as cute as the mermaids.  I added little seashells and the sand dollar from Lawn Fawn's Life is Good set and dies to the bases of the cakes and sequins, too.  I filled up the open spaces with curled ribbon and a little tea light in the center. Now I have two cakes that are adorable and not sure which to give to Sydney and which to give to my dear friend.  Question answered when I brought both of them to Sydney's house and let her choose.  What do you think?  Dolphins or mermaids?  Have a great day!

One More Daisy Card

I am ending the week with another Delightful Daisy card created by Kathy Z.  For today's card, Kathy stamped the daisy on Daffodil Delight cardstock.  She used the Stitched Shapes framelits which is another of my "good investments".  The doily is something I rarely use on my cards. Kathy's card was a reminder that even sections of a paper doily are another embellishment to use on cards!  Thank you, Kathy for sharing yet another card!  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time.

At The Farm

Our granddaughter, Sydney, has been attending various farm camps at the Volkening Heritage Farm at the Spring Valley Nature center in Schaumburg for the past seven years.  She is now old enough to volunteer at the farm and after a week of training, last week Friday was her first day as an official farm guide.  It is an actual farm with horses, pigs, chickens, cows, etc.  The kids do a variety of chores including mucking the stalls, slopping the pigs, collecting eggs and more.  If you live in the Schaumburg area, I would highly suggest you check out this farm.  And if you have children or grandchildren, check out the camp programs that are offered.  It is a special place.

While working on today's card, it reminded me of our visit to the farm last week~~a little rustic.  I used the Wood Textures DSP stack and the Wood Words stamp set. The images were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Have a great day and keep cool!

Saying Thank You

There are many ways to say "thank you" and this card from Kathy Z is a very pretty way to do just that.  Kathy created the Z fold card base using Old Olive cardstock.  One of the patterned papers from the Delightful Daisy DSP pack was used for the top layer and stamped with "Thank You".  Kathy then made the cute little crate using the Wood Crate framelit  and covered it with stamped and punched daisies.  The crate sits against the card.  I now have a pretty piece of décor and Lindor chocolates, too!  Again, Kathy, thank you for the cards to post and for today's special card.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Fancy Fold

Thanks to Kathy Z, today I am posting a very pretty card that Kathy originally saw on Pinterest.  Kathy created this fancy fold card using  everything Daisy Delight~~Designer Series Paper, stamp set, coordinating punch and Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy cardstock.  The person receiving this card is definitely card-worthy!  I can only imagine how much time was put into the card with all the cutting of paper/cardstock and then assembling.  Since Kathy Z has provided me with the cards for these days, I have been able to work on a couple of special projects.  But I cannot share them until next week, after this upcoming birthday weekend!  (Can you believe that my little Sydney is going to be a teenager?)  Again, thank you, Kathy, for sharing!  Have a great day everyone!

Happy Birthday Daisies

Yesterday a few friends were here and Kathy Z showed us some pretty cards she had created.  So I have a week's worth of posts from Kathy and they were all created using the Daisy Delight Designer Series paper, stamp set and coordinating punch.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's Special Celebrations stamp set.  Inside the card, is a coordinating sentiment from the same stamp set.  The center of the daisies are SU's Faceted Gems~~much prettier in person than I thought  from pictures.  She completed the card using the new Daffodil Delight 1/4" double-stitched ribbon.  Thank you, Kathy, for sharing!  Have a great day.

Sending Hugs

One more card created with Zig Real Color Brush pens.  Once again, I just inked watercolor paper with the Zig watercolor brush pens and then brushed water across the color strokes.  You can make the colors as vibrant or as light as desired by using more or less water.  The flowers on yesterday's card were softer compared to the flowers on  this card which are much brighter.  The palm fronds and larger flower were die cut using the Botanical Blooms framelits.  The little flowers were punched using a retired punch.  The word "hugs" was cut using a Lawn Fawn die, Scripty Hugs.  I splattered the white cardstock layer lightly using an aqua pen that still had some aqua ink on the bristles before adhering anything to the layer.  The flowers have rhinestones, but the card still needed a few sequins.  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Watercolor Flowers

I was playing with my Gansai Tambi watercolors and trying out different color combinations.  On one piece of watercolor paper I used a pink and a yellow.  On the other, I used a green and a yellow.  After the papers dried, I used my retired Botanical Blooms framelits to die cut flowers and leaves.  The colors are very soft as I used a lot of water while blending.  The card base is retired Regal Rose cardstock and the same color ink for the sentiment.  Making this card was very relaxing~~or maybe it was not trying to think of what to create.  It just happened once I die cut flowers and leaves.  Have a great day!

Oceans of Love

The mermaid on this card is so darn cute, isn't she?  She is one of three mermaid images in My Favorite Things' Mermazing stamp set and coordinating dies.  The background and images were watercolored using Zig Real Color brushes.  And how perfect is Stampin' Up's Coastal Cabana cardstock embossed with the Seaside embossing folder for the main layer on the card?  After water coloring the mermaid, I used my clear Wink of Stella pen on her mermaid tail and top.  This card is such a happy card~~I love it!  Have a great day and stay dry!

Just Baseball

Today I am posting the card Kathy Z made for her grandson's birthday.  Isn't it perfect for a little boy?  Actually, he is not so little any more.  He is now 9 and loves his baseball.  His Mom even took him downtown last year when the Cubs won the World Series so he could see the parade and be part of the excitement.  Back to the card~~Kathy used all Stampin' Up products.  The retired stamp set, Just Baseball, includes the ball, bat and hat images.   Kathy fussy cut the hat in order to pop it up using a dimensional. I like her use of the Layering Square framelits and the color combo.  Great card for an All-American boy!  Thanks for sharing, Kathy.  Have a great day!

New Embossing Folder

Today's card was created using a variety of products.  The sentiment is from the retired set, A Dozen Thoughts.  After stamping it on white cardstock, I die cut the rectangle using MFT's Word Window Rectangles.  I then cut the word window a second time using Night of Navy cardstock to frame the sentiment.  The embossing folder Layered Leaves is new to SU's Annual Catalog.  It is a 3D Dynamic Textured embossing folder.  This folder creates deep, dimensional impressions.  For the best impression, it is suggested that you lightly mist the cardstock prior to embossing.  This embossing folder is thicker than the embossing folders that you usually see.  That means a different sandwich for the Big Shot. I wrapped the white cardstock with the beautiful new Night of Navy gingham checked ribbon.  A couple of butterflies and little adhesive navy dots were added to complete the card.  Have a great day!

Oceans of Joy

I decided that I would use Sunny Studio Stamps' Oceans of Joy stamp set and dies to create a shaker card.  For some reason, shaker cards seem to take a lot time. But this time, I used Stampin' Up's Foam Adhesive Strips~~a real time saver.  (No more cutting wide strips of adhesive foam in half with the scissors sticking to the adhesive and then the need to clean the scissors.)  The dolphins and turtle were colored in with Spectrum Noir markers.  SU's Seaside embossing folder was perfect for this card together with Soft Sky and Pool Party cardstock.  Now that this shaker card is finished, I wish I would have added a colorful fish or two with the turtle. Next time!  Have a great weekend and find yourself a little stampin' time.

Across The Miles

I have been working on a present for Sydney for her birthday and I realized I didn't have a card for today.  So I turned to the internet and recreated a card I liked on Pinterest.  I used the  Lift Me Up stamp set and coordinating dies.  The colors used are Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and retired Coastal Cabana.  After die cutting the clouds from the white cardstock layer, I set the clouds aside for another project.  To the white cardstock layer, I adhered hot air balloons and sequins and stamped the sentiment.  Peekaboo Peach twine was wrapped around the cardstock and then adhered to Coastal Cabana cardstock using dimensionals.  I think it is a good non-specific card which can be used for just about any occasion.  Have a great day!

Note Card Thank You

Today's cards are copied from a set of cards I saw on the internet.  I used the note cards with envelopes that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago.  They are a bit smaller than the usual cards I create, but very convenient when you need a card in a hurry.  Having the Misti made it even easier.  I stamped one stem on each of the cards; moved the stem over and stamped the cards again.  I then did the flowers (Daisy Delight) in different colors, again using the Misti.  I kept a wet shammy and after each stamp, wiped off the ink and did the next card/color.  The sentiment is from a retired SU stamp set.  Again, the clear stamp was placed on the Misti and made quick work of stamping the thank you on each and knowing it was in the perfect spot each time!  Have a great day!
