In The Meadow

The stamp set used for today's card is In The Meadow.  It is in the new Occasions Mini, although the sentiment is not part of the set.  I stamped the trees, mountains and grass using Staz On ink and then used an aqua painter and my ink pads to watercolor.  Sydney was here and found great humor in the fact that I stamped and water colored probably three card fronts before I finally had success.  I would stamp, water color and then make a mark on the card.  On another version the card was perfect until I got a black little smudge on the card.  So I stamped in a couple of butterflies and it looked like they were on the ground dead instead of flying--lol!!  As Syd said, "Gay, it was such an elegant card until those butterflies appeared!" We were having quite the fun making one card!  The stamp set is so very pretty.  We will use it in a card class for sure. Have a great day and keep warm!

Crush On You

A few years ago I created a tag for bottles and/or cans of  Strawberry Crush soda pop.  I had to type the sentiment on the computer and they were a big hit for Valentine's Day.  Recently, I purchased My Favorite Things' Soda stamp set and dies and I have a  "I've Got A Crush On You" card this year.  I bought this stamp set for the fun of it and I truly see so many ways to use it.  You will be seeing a variety of "pop" cards popping up on my blog over the next several months thanks to this stamp set and Pinterest, too!  Have a great day and keep warm!

A Valentine Bird

So I am ending this week the same way I started it~~with that cute little bird!  I was in Michael's over the weekend and as I waited in line to check out, I picked up a stamping book to flip thru.  In the book was a cute little card with a bird.  Needless to say, when I got home, I made my own version using that cute little guy from
Honeycomb Happiness.  After stamping and embossing the little bird, I colored him in using Copic markers.  (I couldn't bring myself to color him red for Valentine's Day!)  I used retired DSP for the banner and the retired hostess set, Express Yourself, for the sentiment.  The scalloped edge layer is from the WPlus9 die set, Sunshine Layers.  This is a cute Valentine or an anniversary card.  Have a great weekend and find  yourself a little stampin' time!

In The Meadow Flowers

I saw a video on line where someone placed drops of reinker on a lightweight cloth and then dabbed that cloth on a clear block.  So I decided to see how good that worked.  Today's card is the result of that technique.  I dropped both Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise reinker on the cloth.  After dabbing the cloth on the acrylic block, I spritzed on a little stamp cleaner to make the ink a little more liquidy.  I stamped the white cardstock with the acrylic block and when the ink dried on the cardstock, I stamped this image from In The Meadow using black Stazon ink.  I stamped the splatter image from Gorgeous Grunge on the card front before adhering the image to it.  The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts (annual catalog) and has been one of my favorite sentiments since the stamp set was first released a while ago.  The black ribbon is the perfect embellishment for this card.  Have a great day!

The Sky Is The Limit

Another Sale-a-bration set, the  Sky Is The Limit makes a great masculine card.  The set also includes great sentiments and a puff of smoke in the shape of a heart~~cute, cute, cute!  This set is only available thru February 15th, not for the entire Sale-a-bration period.  So if it is a set you would like to have, your order needs to be in before February 15th.  The mini silver brads are a nice division between the plane and the sentiment and add a little texture.  There are some great Sale-a-bration products and as this is a limited set, another couple of SAB products will be introduced in mid-February.  Stampin' Up has not given any indication as to what those new items might be as of yet.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time.

Timeless Textures Hello

It has been a while since I posted a butterfly card!  I really wanted to do something with the Timeless Textures stamp set.  So, I stamped various images from the Timeless Textures set in Crumb Cake, both on white and Crumb Cake cardstock.  I was able to create a pretty background on the white cardstock and again on the Crumb Cake layer.  Now what to do with the background?  A pretty butterfly would be perfect.  The butterfly was die cut using a butterfly from the Bold Butterflies Framelits set and another from the Butterflies Thinlets die set.  Blackberry Bliss is a striking contrast to the Crumb Cake and White cardstock and framed the white layer very nicely, although you cannot tell that from the photo. With the addition of gold thread, pearls and a little embosslit butterfly,  today's card is very elegant!   This is definitely a class-worthy card.  Have a great day!

Wish Big With That Cute Bird

So this week I am gearing up for the new Occasions Mini and Sale-a-bration which goes live tomorrow, January 5th. And what better stamp set than Honeycomb Happiness to start with.  I had to use that cute little bird again.  This time I  colored him using colored pencils and Gamsol.  Same with the balloons, also in the stamp set.  The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts (annual catalog).  I used retired Brilliant Blue cardstock and the graphic design behind him is from the stamp set, Timeless Textures (Occasions Mini).  I use the Gorgeous Grunge set so often, I thought I would probably make good use of Timeless Textures, too.  I will let you know if that happens to be the case.  Have a great day!
