Happy Halloween!

It is going to be cold and windy here in the Chicago area (and maybe even snow in some areas)!!  The little ghosts and goblins need to dress up nice and warm!  Here are a few more fry boxes I made.  This is another fun die that I can see myself using again and again.   Today's card was made by my friend, Kathy Zimmermann.  She used the Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set together with a variety of Stampin' Up! cardstock and DSP.  Have a fun, safe and Happy Halloween and a great weekend, too!

Thanksgiving Happiness

The Mingle All The Way stamp set has a nice variety of Fall/Winter holiday sentiments.  The Thanksgiving sentiment leaves me with a comfy, cozy feeling.   Blackberry Bliss cardstock was stamped using the Hardwood background stamp and Blackberry Bliss ink.  I cut the leaves using my Cricut  and added metallic raffia.  After stamping the sentiment I used one of the Chalk Talk framelits to cut it out, added a couple of Cajun Craze brads and then adhered it over the leaves and raffia using dimensionals.  The Cajun Craze card base completes the festive look and feel of this card.  Have a great day!

Celebrate

I had every intention of creating a completely Stampin' Up card for today's post.  And it started out that way.  I had an idea in my mind using the color combination of Night of Navy and Crumb Cake.  So I took out the two star framelits I needed and die cut the Navy layer and then die cut the smallest star, also using Night of Navy.  After adhering the Navy layer to the card front using dimensionals, I adhered the little star to the Crumb Cake inside the star.  I finally used SU's Confetti Star Punch (Holiday Mini)~~one punch and I was able to create all the little stars I adhered to the card front and more, too! Just as I was going to stamp a sentiment on Crumb Cake cardstock, my Cricut called to me and I die cut the sentiment instead.  Have a great day!

Still Playing w/Vinyl

I wanted to show you the Halloween gift bag I made for Sydney.  It was quick and easy.  I chose the images I wanted for each side of the white bag, fed the vinyl into my Explore and in no time at all my images were cut.  After weeding out the little pieces using the Cricut dental-like pick tool all I needed to do was adhere the images to the bag.  I wish I had orange or lime green gift bags, but the white worked just fine.  Between now and the time I see Sydney, I might add a few little bats or spiders, but the ribbons finished it off nicely.  I did place an order for some brightly colored vinyl so not all of my vinyl projects will be black!   I think that if I don't stamp my gift bags in the future, they will be embellished with vinyl~~or a combination of both! Have a great day!

Ornaments

Yesterday was Cricut Sunday and as always, we had a fun and productive afternoon.  I had been trying different things on my Cricut during the week, mainly cutting vinyl.  There are so many different vinyls available and Sheryl was able to explain a little more about the vinyls she uses for her beautiful projects.  I am posting photos of two of the glass ornaments I decorated using vinyl.  I have decided that at the Christmas Project day on November 3oth, we will be making the black Peace ornament.  It is very pretty and maybe by then I will change it a bit!   Have a great day!

Quick Halloween Fry Box

I finally made a fry box from the SU die.  I was going to just use my Cricut, but I wasn't sure of the exact dimensions or design, so I purchased the die.  I used retired DSP in case I had problems putting the box together, but no problem at all.  I wrapped the fry box with black sheer ribbon and added the little boo circle.  This box easily holds 4 or 5 the mini candy bars.  If was going to give this away, I would have either put the candy in a little cellophane bag in the box or put the filled box in a cellophane bag.  Have a great Friday and a great weekend, too!

Monochromatic Thankful

Here is the Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip card promised the other day.  As with the purple card, I used the same technique of crumbling, straightening out and sponging.  This time though I even stamped the image using Chocolate Chip.  It is a little drab compared to the purple card, but it is a good man card!  I do think a couple of brown brads would look nice, but the card was put together when I thought about that!  I must also say that the leaves outside my windows are much more colorful than the leaf on this card!!  Have a great day and enjoy the colors of Fall!!

Christmas Craft Day

Since I made an unexpected trip to Arizona and have another coming soon, I have not had an opportunity to make a great project for Christmas as I have done over the past years.  So I decided that Sunday, November 30th from 1:00- 4:00 pm will be "Christmas Craft Day".  It will not be a Stampin' Up class as we will be creating a variety of things and using a variety of products.  I know that I said  I would post a Crumb Cake card similar to yesterday's card, but I changed my mind.  In trying to figure out what to make on Christmas Craft Day, I saw this card on the Cricut Explore Design Studio and I had to try it out.  I just thought everything about the card is just adorable.  By November 30th, it will be spruced up a bit, but isn't it too cute?  We will make gift card holders, gift tags, cards and who knows what else!  The cost will be $20 with no option of placing a SU order. It should be a fun way to spend an afternoon.  Mark your calendars and look for more information during the next few weeks.  Have a great day!

Crushed Purple

Wanted to make a card with a Fall tone using Elegant Eggplant.  Decided I haven't crushed, uncrushed and sponged cardstock for awhile.  So I used Perfect Plum cardstock, crumbled it up, uncrumbled it and then sponged using Elegant Eggplant for the background layer.  I think it looks very pretty.  The images are from the For All Things stamp set (Holiday Mini) and I used Olive Green brads to add a little more interest to the dark purple.  Tomorrow's card will be similar but using Crumb Cake with Chocolate Chip ink.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Give Thanks

238 unnamedA few days ago I saw a card sketch on Operation Write Home that caught my eye and that was the start of today's card.  I still have some of the retired Sweater Weather DSP (which I still like)  so I used that together with the Truly Grateful stamp set (annual catalog).  Not sure if you have used card sketches, but there are a number of them out there for your use.  Just type "card sketches" in the search bar and you will have plenty of choices.  Pick one or two and get to work.  I find myself using card sketches more often lately.  From now on when I use a card sketch, I will post the sketch and the card I created.  As I type this morning it truly is sweater weather around here!  Actually, it is more like coat weather!!  Have a great day and keep warm.

Coastal Cabana Vases

Today's card is one I created a while back using one of the smaller Top Note shapes I made with my Explore and SU's My Digital Studio.  The Vivid Vases were colored using a Coastal Cabana Marvelous Marker.  (Lately I say Marvelous Markers so that you know the new Blendabilities were not used.)  The little banners match the colors of the flower and the two smaller banners were punched with the Banner punch, two of them after being stamped using the Banner Banter stamp set.  Have a great day and weekend!

Joy in Lost Lagoon

Another Christmas card that we will be creating this weekend.  Once again I am using All Is Calm DSP. I also used the Joy framelit included in the Wondrous Wreath Framelit set.  Yesterday was the first time I used the framelit and I was having trouble getting the word out without sections tearing and/or sticking in the framelit.  Then I remember reading on our demonstrator message board that someone else had the same problem.  So, I used the suggestion I found there:  Layer the framelit first using wax paper and then the cardstock.   So I did that a couple of times and it still stuck in a couple of spots.  Finally, I added a shim to the Big Shot sandwich and out popped the word "Joy" after I rolled it thru with the shim on the acrylic plate.  The snowflakes are from Endless Wishes, the smaller ones embossed with silver embossing powder.  And the finishing touch is the pretty Lost Lagoon silky taffeta ribbon which is in the Holiday Mini.   Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.  Have a great day!!

Having A Little Fun

I am in the middle of getting things ready for card classes but I set Christmas cards aside for a little while as I played with the Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks.  Actually, they are stencils and for today's card I used the Dots and Blackberry Bliss ink.  Sponging the Blackberry Bliss ink created a much lighter shade of the ink.  As a matter of fact when I first received the Blackberry Bliss reinker I used it with rubbing alcohol to dye the White Satin Ribbon.  That too produced a much lighter shade.  I am sure if I added more reinker, it would be darker.  At any rate, that  ribbon has been hanging on my board since then and I am finally using it.  The image is from Really Good Greetings and I added a little "celebrate" tab.  Have a great day and find yourself a little stampin' time!

Making Spirits Bright Christmas

Today's card is one that we will be making during classes over the weekend.  I wanted to use the Smokey Slate DSP from the All Is Calm Specialty paper. While coloring in the "drink" I knew that I would match the DSP with Real Red cardstock.  After using a Labels Framelits to cut around the image, the image was layered on to a larger framelit.  I used my Marvelous Markers to color the image and then added Dazzling Details to both the glass and the little holly berries.  The Making Spirits Bright is a fun little stamp set that has a variety of sentiments in addition to the "drink".  It can be found in the Holiday Mini on page 48.  Have a great day!

I Am Back

I know many of you have missed my daily posts, but life got in the way.  Two weeks ago today, I received a call from my brother that my mom was not doing well.  She went to the hospital to have a pacemaker wire replaced.  It turned into open heart surgery.  My Mom improves daily.  I want to say thanks for all the thoughts and prayers that were given for both my Mom and me, too.  Today's card is one I made before I left for Arizona.  It was created using my Cricut Explore and the CTMH Artfully Sent cartridge.  Originally, I started with a white card base, and then I smudged the edge after it was cut out.  So I cut it down to use the card front layered on pink cardstock from Amuse Studio.  I especially like the font on the Artfully Sent cartridge and it looks perfect on this baby card.  Had I not had to cut down the card base, I would have just lined the underside of the card front with a colored piece of cardstock.  Putting the baby's name on the card front is another idea.  The little hearts were created using the SU heart border punch.   Tomorrow I will post one of the cards we will be making at card classes this coming weekend.  Have a great day!
