Hello Kitty Birthday Card

Our granddaughter celebrates her 5th birthday this week. Her party is on Friday, but I wanted her to get a card on her actual birthday. She recently announced that when she grows up, she wants to be a cheerleader (much to her father's dismay)! So, here's the Hello Kitty card I made with just a little help from my Cricut--and SU! cardstock, of course.
Over the weekend, I hosted a "scrapover" for a couple of my favorite scrappers. We all had a great time. The girls (both moms to young children) loved being able to scrap without interruption and waking up in the morning to begin scrapping again without first taking care of the children. Now is when I wish my house was bigger so that I could host "scrapovers" for bigger groups. Have a great day and find a little time for scrapping and/or stamping.

As Promised yesterday--

--here are a couple of pages I did using the A Child's Year cartridge from Provocraft. I am amazed at everything this cartridge has on it--everything in black is cut out using ACY. The image of the 2 girls holding hands truly reflects how close my sister and I were. We were one year and 2 weeks apart in age and we did just about everything together. For 54 years, Chris was truly my very best friend. I was blessed to have her. And I am doubly blessed as I have two younger brothers who I love dearly.
The teddy bear die cut on this page is also from ACY. The photos were taken just before Syd's first birthday (I really am catching up on scrapbooking)and she opened a present that had clothes and a stuffed pink teddy. She went right for the teddy bear. I used SU! pastels to emphasize the little edges of the bear. I think it is adorable!
Enjoy your Sunday afternoon.

New Cricut Cartridge Arrived!

I have been very busy catching up with my scrapping. After sorting photos from the last few years, I have scrapped at least 30 double layouts. My plan is to now start going thru all of those pages and do my journaling and embellishing. And that was a very good plan until I received my new Cricut cartridge, A Child's Year, this morning. I have been playing with it to see what cuts I like, etc.

Our son graduated from the Fire Academy a few years back, so needless to say one of his layouts will include the cute fireman silhouette above. Then I saw the dog images and started cutting a few of those for our Cody--a chocolate lab--along with a teddy bear. I ordered this cartridge thru www.scrapbookpal.com on Thursday morning. It was shipped almost immediately via USPS priority mail. I thought I would get it on Monday so receiving it today was a pleasant surprise.

The title of this cartridge is a little misleading. I had no intention of purchasing it, until I found out everything that was on it--lots of children silhouettes, but also cat, dog, flower and bird images--and more! There is even a teapot image. In addition, there is also font on this cart, which i used to spell out Cody. I will be back later or over the weekend, to post a couple of my layouts using this cartridge. In the meantime, find yourself some stampin' time-and scrappin' time, too!

I am . . .so happy

As I mentioned in in earlier post, I am catching up on my scrapbooking. Well, catching up also means using my present stash of scrapping supplies. This double 12x12 layout was created using the Tickled Pink special item I purchased a couple months back. The colors, the images and of course, the photos makes this my favorite l/o of the day. Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend and find yourself some stampin' time.

Stampin' Up! New Idea Book

Today is the official release date of the new SU! 2009/10 Idea Book & Catalog. This catalog is good for an entire year--yeah! I don't know about you, but two catalogs a year and the mini catalogs was a little much for me. I couldn't keep up with all the new products that were being released. I know that anything I purchase from this Idea Book will be good for at least a year. I have been browsing the catalog for the last couple of weeks and I can now tell you what will be my first stamp set purchases: Pony Party and Paradise stamp sets. My granddaughter loves My Little Ponies. The Pony Party stamp set includes a pony image that closely resembles a My Little Pony. There are six "cutie" marks, a little birthday hat, wings and a horn to make the image a unicorn. Also, the greeting "magical birthday wishes". Way cute! The stamp set is on page 86. Anyone who knows me, knows I love tropical anything. The Paradise stamp set has five tropical leaf/frond images. This stamp set is on Page 97 of the 2009/10 Idea Book. My favorite Designer Series Paper is "Kaleidoscope". It is very summery to me and the colors in it are Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Summer Sun, Only Orange, Pink Passion and Pixie Pink. Since I lived in the Phoenix, AZ area for six years, I have a lot of pool/party photos for which these papers will be the perfect backdrop. SU! is also going to be offering a special deal of the week. From today thru July 6th, you can purchase the scallop edge punch for $10.95 plus shipping and tax. This punch is usually $15.95. (Shipping is $6.95 on any order under $69.95 or 10% on orders over $69.95. This is a really good price if you have additional SU! supplies you need and place a $69 order. Or if you and a friend want to combine orders to get the 10% shipping.) You can go to my SU! website to browse the new Idea Book and even shop online if you would like: www.stampintimesomewhere.stampinup.net
