Tweet Birthday

We have been busy getting our house ready to put on the market and taking care of things for the closing of the house in Tennessee. But yesterday, I decided it was time to get into my craft room to make a card. The image is from Stampin' Up's Free As A Bird stamp set and the sentiment is from the Sweet Chirps set from Stampendous. I stamped the image in Memento Gray ink and colored it with Prismacolor pencils. I cut it out with my Scan N Cut. After tearing the edges of white cardstock, I sponged the edges with Soft Sky ink and adhered that to a Pool Party card base. I used dimensionals to attach the image to the white cardstock, but the card lacked something. After thinking about it, I added a little texture by adding little splashes of Soft Sky ink using an image from SU's Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. Have a great day!

Something New

Y

I have not been posting very much lately.  That is because John and I have been  busy going thru our "stuff".  We have talked about moving to Tennessee for a while now, so we decided it would be time well spent if we started getting ready for that move.  That time has arrived sooner than I thought.  We went to Tennessee last week for the inspection of a house we put under contract~~from seeing pictures.  I know that is crazy, but we have missed out on a few houses because we didn't act fast enough.  Not sure when we will move, but as soon as our present house sells, we will begin our new adventure.

I thought we were going to down-size, but we did not.  We will have plenty of room for scrap weekends.  The new house is in Rogersville, TN, about an hour east of Knoxville.  It is a small town but it does have a Walmart SuperCenter.  (It is not as "SuperCenter" as the Walmart I am used to shopping at!). The house is gorgeous and the view is awesome.  We will even have cows for neighbors!  The video is our backyard view.

I will still post cards, but not sure how frequently.  My scrap room will be the last thing I pack, but now I have to keep it clean!  Have a great day!

Chocolate Bunny

This will be my last Easter card~~I am pretty sure!  Once again, I used the stickers that were included in Echo Park with Laurie Whitlock's Celebrate Easter collection.  The pattern paper is from Lawn Fawn.  The retired border punch from Stampin' Up is one of those worthwhile punches that I got my money's worth out of!  And to speak of Stampin' Up, this punch has to be 7 years old or more.  Stampin' Up does have quality products.  Have a great day and enjoy the weekend!

Easter Collage

While looking around the Internet, I found a blog by Kristie Marcotte and she has videos in which she gives measurements and shows how to make a variety of cards from one pack of pattern paper.  Today's card came from a video in which she used a pack of Easter paper from Doodlebugs.  I watched it and received many card layout ideas.  Today's card is similar to one of Kristie's cards, except for the fact that I used my Echo Park Easter Celebration pack and my 1-1/4 square punch rather than the cover all frame from My Favorite Things.  I think the layout is very cute.  After  lining up the squares, I might just break down and purchase the $30 die!  Cut the frame and fill it in with the squares~~much easier and quicker.  The sentiment is from Sunny Studio Stamps.  Very adorable, if I say so myself!  Have a great day!

Happy Spring!

We had wonderful weekend weather.  With the sunshine and warmer temps, I ran downstairs and made today's quick card!  I used Echo Park with Lori Whitlock's Celebrate Easter paper collection to do so.  Even the flower image on the white background is from that collection.  It is a sticker! The pretty pink card base is Pixie Pink~~a very old color from Stampin' Up!  Have a great day!

Egg Hunt

Isn't the bunny so cute?  This is another mini slimline card I made, this time using LDRS Creative's Hoppy Egg Hunt stamp set and coordinating dies.  The pattern paper is from Echo Park and Lori Whitlock.  For the scalloped squares I used Stampin' Up's layered squares dies.  This stamp set has a number of really cute images and sentiments.  Between the sunshine, warmer temperatures for this time of the year and the days being longer, this is just another little bit of happiness to add to that of the last few days!  Enjoy and have a great day!

Yellow Lily

Hope everyone had a chance to get out this weekend to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.  I certainly did.  The lily and the sentiment on today’s are from LDRS Creative’s  Lily 4x6 Stamps set.  And, the card was copied from their website, too!  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed using white embossing powder.   After stamping and coloring the lily, it was cut out on my Scan n Cut.  After making this card, I decided to look at photos of lilies.  There are many beautiful lily variations.  Next lily card I make will not be yellow!  Have a great day!

Softly Sponged

Today's card is simple yet pretty.  For the background layer, I sponged Antique Linen and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of white cardstock.  I then cut out the center.  I layered that sponged piece which I cut out onto a larger piece of white cardstock and stamped the sentiment.  Before adhering that center piece, I added leaves I die cut using My Favorite Things' die, Fab Foliage.  The sequins complete the card.  Have a great day!

Polka Dot Birthday

I have been spending time in my craft room going thru everything.  I do this every once in the while and it was overdue!  I came across a bunch of pre-cut pattern paper.  I can't remember what it was cut for specifically, so I used that paper for today's card.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's retired Express Yourself stamp set.  The sentiment was stamped on white cardstock and cut with SU's Decorative Label punch.  I did sponge the edges to give the die cut a little bit of a distressed look to match the distressed look of the paper.  Many years ago, I made a "layer" which was a bit larger than the label punch.  I cut many of this "layer" on my Cricut in just about every color SU had at the time.  When I showed these layers to my friend, Paula, we had a good laugh over what was I thinking when I cut out so many of every different color of SU's cardstock!  And now, one of hundreds got used!  You might be seeing this punch/layer combination a lot in the future!  Have a great day!

No Stamp Easter Cards

The other day I saw a card on the internet and the layout caught my eye.  The fact that it was an Easter card made me think about a pack of paper I purchased a few weeks ago.  I went down to my scrap room yesterday and took out that package, a collection from Echo Park by Lori Whitlock, Celebrate Easter.  In the package there are a number of different papers.  Included is a page of journaling cards. Rather than stamping, I cut those little cards and used those cards as the center of my cards.  I think the cards are adorable and I will be making more.  Have a great day!

Easter Eggs

Today's card was created after seeing a card on Sunny Studio Stamps' Facebook page.  Since I have a few 6-1/2" x 3-1/2" envelopes, I decided to make a smaller slimline card.  I used Lawn Fawn's Eggstra Special Easter and Sunny Studio Stamps Chickie Baby and Eggs To Die For stamp sets and coordinating dies for this card.  The eggs were watercolored lightly and just as on the card on Facebook, I did not completely watercolor the eggs.  A few adhesive dots were added.  Have a great weekend!

47 Years

Yesterday John and I celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary.  I have a hard time thinking that 47 years ago we said, "I do!"  Old people celebrate 47th anniversaries!  We are getting up there, but not old yet!  We enjoy the bluebirds that come around our house in the summer and last year we had them in the winter.  Since I have been looking for them again, I thought a couple of little bluebirds would make a cute card for John.  I used the Springtime Critters stamp set from Simon Says Stamp because of the cute birdhouse with the heart and the little birds.   I colored the images with alcohol markers and cut them with my Scan N Cut.  After adhering the images to a piece of white cardstock that was cut with a scallop die from Lawn Fawn, I adhered that to a blue background layer.  The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up set.  It is the perfect card to take our mind off of the snow and cold and to know that Spring is not far away!  Have a great day!

Snailed It!

Today's Valentine was created by my friend, KathyZ.  She used Stampin' Up products including the Snailed It and Lots of Heart stamp sets and the Many Hearts die from the Occasions catalog.  Kathy also used the Detailed Hearts die from the annual catalog.  And then there is the pattern paper and the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  She put a lot of time and product into this card~~and she made 24 of them!  Thank you Kathy.  Love it!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and a sweet Valentine's Day!

Simple Love

I did not have a card ready for this morning, so I am posting a card I saw on Facebook.  I have copied this card, making two which are similar.  I just mailed them this morning, so I will post another day.  I used Stampin' Up's Large Letters dies for my cards and SU's heart punch  from a couple of years ago.  If you have letter dies, this is easy card to wish someone love for any occasion, not just Valentine's Day.  Have a great day!

Valentine Box Card

The other day I received a surprise in the mail.  It was a package from my friend, Nikki. She purchased the SVG file from Lori Whitlock and gifted me with three ready to assemble Valentines!  She sent me the link to a video showing how to assemble.  Thank goodness she did or they would have never gotten sent, much less assembled!  I must have watched parts of the video four times.  Everything was all together~~success!  But then I had to add the pieces such as the hearts and the envelope.  I should have done that prior to assembling.  But it is all done and cute as can be!  Looking forward to assembling the others soon!  Thank you so much Nikki!  It was a nice surprise and I appreciate your thoughtfulness.  You amaze me that you work full-time, have a one year old, a husband who works shifts and you still take the time to let others know you care!  Have a great day!

Love You Lots

Happy February!  We sure did get a lot of snow!  Little Charlie loves it.  He jumps into it, puts his face into the snow and eats it, too!  The neighbors were happy to see John cross the street to help them out with their driveways.  His ATV with plow attachment got a workout yesterday.  At least it wasn't frigid cold.

And while John was clearing snow, I was working on Valentines for our great nephews and nieces.  I saw this card design on a Simon Says Stamp video and thought I could use products I already have to make similar Valentines.  The stamps I used are from SU's retired Heartfelt stamp set.  The hearts were created using SU heart punches and dies   Inside I have a little mouse from a My Favorite Things stamp set or a little otter with a heart~~also from MFT.  In order to center the inner heart with sentiment, I used temporary adhesive to adhere the inside heart to the back of the outside heart, applied glue and then closed the card, carefully removing the inside heart from the temporary adhesive.  Now when the card is closed, you do not see any of the inside heart.  For a finished look, I adhered a solid heart to the back of the outside heart and signed our names on it.  There is probably a shorter way of trying to describe what I did, but hopefully seeing the picture makes the directions clearer.   Have a great day!

Love You

I really like today's card.  First off, when I saw the die for the word "love" on Papertrey Ink's website, I needed it.  Once I combined it with the pretty Love Me, Love Me Not paper from Photoplay, I had a pretty Valentine or Anniversary card or anytime card.  I layered the Photoplay paper onto Stampin' Up's Pink Pirouette cardstock and adhered it to a white card base.  The "you" is from a SU stamp set.  It was stamped with Versamark Ink and then white embossing powder was added and heated.  A few little hearts and there you have a simple and pretty card!  Have a great weekend and enjoy more snow!

Sending Hugs

Today's Valentines are made for our elderly friends in senior living communities.  Aren't the little envelopes with the little note peeking out too cute?  My Favorite Things released new products the other day.  I had my eye on their Mini Mail Die-namics set when they first showed it and ordered it as soon as it was released.  One of the great things about MFT is that after $50, it is free shipping.  On top of that, I get my order from them in 2 maybe 3 days once I place my order.  The sentiments are from Lawn Fawn stamp sets.  The red pattern papers are from retired Stampin' Up collections.  The black and white background paper is from PhotoPlay's Love Letters collection. The little hearts are from the same die set while the "xo" is from a Lawn Fawn set.  Have a great day and be careful when the snow starts!

Birthday Cupcakes

Today’s card is a fun card I made a couple of weeks ago. I actually made two back then.  One was for a friend who celebrated her birthday last week. She should have received it by now, so I feel safe posting it.  I used the Trinity Stamps slimline scallop dies for the layers.  The sentiment is from a retired Close To My Heart stamp set.  The cupcakes are from My Favorite Things' All The Cupcakes stamp set.  After coloring the cupcakes, I cut them on my Scan N Cut.  For the few slimline cards I have made, I have been making the envelopes, too.  On Amazon.com I found #9 envelopes that are the perfect size for the cards that measure 3-1/2" by 8-1/2".  The #9 envelopes are smaller than the usual business envelopes we use.  The ones I ordered aren't the best quality, but they work and save time making envelopes.  Have a great weekend!

Stampin' Up Card

The other day I received a pretty card from my friend, Cherie Lukowski.  She recently became a Stampin' Up demonstrator and when she dropped off my order, it included this gorgeous thank you card.  (SU's new Occasions Mini catalog is out and has some nice items in it.) The flower, stem and sentiment are included in the Art Gallery stamp set.  Cherie also used the coordinating Floral Gallery dies to cut them out.  And how cute is the little die used for the thank you!  And then there is the background layer.  I know Cherie used the new Painted Texture 3D embossing folder.  I have to ask her how she created the multiple colors.  I could make a guess, but I need for Cherie to tell me.  That way I am not leading anyone done the wrong path.  When I get the answer, I will let you know.  The gold layer was cut using MFT's Stitched Rectangle Frames Die-namics.  I love the card!  Have a great day!

Cricut Flower Cards

The other day I was on Facebook when I saw a card on the the Branded Stamps, Dies and Craft Supplies page.  It was created by Susie Moore and she said she drew the flowers on her Cricut.  I decided I should see about doing that myself.  I did find some flower images that were to be drawn.  I figured out where I want the flowers drawn on my white cardstock and put in my black Cricut pen.  I colored three images and made today's cards.  The sentiment on two of the cards was stamped and is from Clearly Besotted Stamps.  They cards are very cute and were easy to create with minimal coloring.  Have a great weekend!

A Little Boy's Valentines

Today's post is from my friend, Nikki.  She made these for her little boy's child care friends.  Nikki purchased Valentine Crayon Holder SVG files from www.loriwhitlock.com.  After purchasing the SVG files, Nikki used her Cricut machine to print the image and do the cutting.  The completed size is about 4"x6".  With allergies and nutrition concerns, this is a great Valentine for the little ones.  Thanks for sharing the photos, Nikki.  The favors are adorable!  Have a great day everyone!

Gingham Birdhouse

I did work on Valentines over the weekend, but until I send them, I don't want to post them.  So, I am posting another card I made using Lawn Fawn's Birdhouse add-on dies.  This time, I used pattern paper for the birdhouse.  The paper is from Echo Park's Dots and Stripes Gingham Collection, Spring.  I layered the birdhouse on embossed Lost Lagoon cardstock (doesn't look like it in the picture) from Stampin' Up.  Not sure what cardstock I used for the leaves.  I used my Scan N Cut to cut the birds from Photo Play's Love Birds double-sided paper.  When cutting out the birds, a few cut out with a border and birds on which I didn't add a border, they did not do so well.  For me, cutting out pattern paper doesn't always work the way I hope it will!  (A good reason to purchase 2 pieces instead of one!)  Have a great day!

All Love

This week I have been working on Valentines for Cards For Soldiers.  Today's cards are some of the cards I made for the soldiers.  I have used dies, stamps and pattern paper from previous years.  And then there is paper that I just received from scrapbook.com.  The black with pink and red flowers is from Photoplay's Love Letters Collection, Loves Me, Loves Me Not.  The white paper is also from Photoplay's Loves Letters Collection, LOVE.  The paper with the mini hearts is retired Stampin' Up paper.  The words are from Stampin' Up and Papertrey Ink.  The hearts are from Stampin' Up and Lawn Fawn.  Have a great weekend!

Organizing 6 x 6 Paper

I wanted to share a new storage container I received.  I have been purchasing 6 x 6 paper stacks for a while.  Organizing them gets  to be a problem.  I had them in various storage trays and spaces.  Thanks to a nice Christmas gift, all of the stacks are in one place.  The place is in this pictured Art Bin product.  It costs about $20 and is available at a number of places including Amazon.  It will not fit anything much bigger.  The down side is that it gets heavy when completely filled.  And now I need to find a place I can keep this container.  Have a great day.

Bright & Cheery

Stampin’ Up’s Occasions catalog went live yesterday and there are a few things I like.  They have some nice 12x12 papers, but I passed on those.  Lately, I have been ordering sheets of paper from scrapbook.com.  Last week I ordered 17 sheets of paper for about $24.00 which included tax and shipping.  It seems costly, but when I broke it down, 17 sheets of Stampin’ Up paper including the minimum shipping and tax cost just about the same.  This way I get exactly the papers I want and will use.  In addition, most of the paper I order from scrapbook.com is a bit heavier and is great for favors/treats.

For today’s bright and cheery card, the background paper is from Doodlebugs’ Love Notes collection.  I used my Scan N Cut to cut out the little envelopes from the pattern paper which were adhered  to SU’s Magenta cardstock layer.  The word “love” was created using a die from Papertrey Ink.  This is an adorable Valentine, but in case it doesn’t get to a military destination in time, it can still be put to good use.  Have a great day!

Winter Birdhouse

Happy 2021!  We rang in the new year quietly, which is usual for us!  Little Charlie wasn't bothered by some fireworks that went off.  He is just as cute as can be.  We had been keeping him in the kitchen, but decided to see how he would do if we just kept all the bedroom doors closed and the stairs to the basement blocked off.  So far, so good.  We take him out regularly, so we are trained well.  Needless to say, with Charlie here, I am spending less time in my scrap room.  I have been making Valentines for Cards For Soldiers.  I stamp and diecut anything I need and then assemble the cards in the kitchen.  John had been off to Missouri for a few days last week and by working upstairs, I was able to keep an eye on Charlie.

That being said, I did take a break from Valentines and used a new set of dies from Lawn Fawn for today's card.  The die is their Birdhouse add-on for the Magic Iris interactive dies.  I am not into the interactive cards, so I just purchased the birdhouse.  At this time of year, I definitely need thank you cards, so I thought a winter birdhouse would be a cute way to thank someone.  The sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn stamp set and the paper is also Lawn Fawn.  Have a great day!
