Catching Up!

Lately when I am down in my craft room, I have been making cards. After making a couple of sample scrapbook pages for a class, I realized that my scrapbooking has really fallen behind. In addition to getting to know my new computer, the last couple of weeks have been devoted to scrapbooking. In the past, I have always used post-bound albums and always double 12x12 page layouts. Well, for now I am giving the 3-ring binder a try. The majority of my pages will still be 12x12 layouts, but I have purchased some of the page protectors that have six 4x6 pockets. When I use one of the pocket protector pages, I will still scrap a 12x12 page to coordinate across from it. To bring the side-by-side pages together, I will mat my journaling on a coordinating 4x6 paper and slip that into one of the pockets. Maybe it will save me some time! I'll let you know!

First Stair-step Card

Another card for Father's Day. This is known as a stair-step card. I used my Cricut and the Life's A Beach cartridge for the lighthouse, chair, flipflops & seagull and, of course, SU! cardstock. I probably should tell you what cardstock I use when I use something other than SU!--lol. And now I think I have completed cards for Dad.
If you are interested in joining a class to learn how to make the various cards I post on my blog, don't hesitate to email me. The card base will be the same, but we can do any of the cards with a different theme.
I finally had to get a new computer. So, I am off to try to figure out all the functions. It is Vista and I heard there is some learning, so I am off to study my new computer--and probably get aggravated, too!

Joy Fold Cards

I saw samples of the "joy fold card" and decided to have a go at it. This is a really fun card to make. I used my Cricut machine for the chair, lighthouse and seagulls. The cupcake sample was made using SU! cardstock and cupcake stamp, together with miscellaneous pattern paper I had in my scrap drawer. Needless to say, the lighting was not too great for taking photos, so these examples of the "joy fold" are much more vibrant in person. My next card class will definitely include a joy fold card. Well, it is raining here, so I guess I will go downstairs and create away.

Summer Pages

I was working on scrap pages last week using SU!'s Rainbow Sherbert. In the midst of working on those pages, I received my new SU! sneek peek products. This page is from the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer paper pack which will be available on July 1st. One of the great things about this new paper is that it matches not only new In-colors, but Pumpkin Pie--one of SU!'s standard colors. I used some of the leftover pieces to make this card. The colors will certainly bring a little sunshine to the person who receives it. Last but not least, the page on the right showcases my favorite new In-color--Melon Mambo. The ribbon tied around the Rich Razzleberry cardstock is actually white taffeta ribbon. Since I did not purchase any of the matching new in-color ribbon, I ran the white taffeta ribbon across the Rich Razzleberry ink pad. Have a great day!

Scrappin' Time Again!

Between card making and the water problem in the basement a few months ago, I have let my scrapbooking slide. The number of photos waiting to be put in books has been piling up. Last night I decided to design a couple of pages that I might use at my
June 25th Scrapbook 101 class. The bright colors of the SU!Rainbow Sherbert designer papers shout "summer" to me. Summer is just around the corner and I have lots of summer pictures that need to be scrapped. Thus, the title "Summer Fun".
"Life's A Breeze" is another option for my Scrapbook 101 class. Again I used Rainbow Sherbert paper combined with Bold Brights cardstock for this two-page 12x12 layout. I wonder what other ideas I can scrap? Don't forget to register for this class as I need to have ample supplies. Have a great day.

The Old With The New

First let me say, the new Idea Book is gorgeous. I looked through it a couple of times last night and there sure are a lot of stamp sets that I need--actually want!
The first card uses the new hostess stampset, Wings of Friendship. I used Real Red for the base and layered it with Summer Sun, Old Olive and Whisper White cardstocks. I also used the new punch--Modern Label! I layered it using the word punch.
The card to the right uses black cardstock with the new Bermuda Bay cardstock. The stamp set again is Wings of Friendship--which I think is just beautiful.
And this third card is made using current materials (Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink ribbon & God's Beauty stamp set) with the exception of the layer which is one of the new in-colors--Rich Razzleberry-- cardstock and the Modern Label punch.
The new In-colors are very rich. When I saw samples of the new In-colors on the SU! website, I thought they were going to be more like the Bold Brights, but they seem to be right between Bold Brights & Earth Elements. So far my favorites are Mambo Melon, Rich Razzleberry & Bermuda Bay. They coordinate very nicely with SU!'s 48 exclusive color choices.
Enjoy your day!

Stampin' Up! Sneak Peek

The new SU! Idea Book will be released on July 1st. I am anxiously waiting for Mr. Brown (the UPS man) to deliver my order, including new in-color (6 new colors) cardstock, inks and a copy of the new catalog/Idea Book. I will be posting a picture or two of a creations that I make using my new "stuff", so check back!

"Man" Cards

While waiting for my "sneak peek" SU! items--including the new Idea Book (YEAH)--I made my "man card" class samples. The item I am most excited about is this wallet. It is actually a gift card holder. On the left-hand side of the wallet, you can put a photo of you, a child or a pet! Father's Day is only a couple of weeks away, so attending my Man Cards class on June 7th will give you an opportunity to make this gift card holder and a few cards designed with men in mind.
